Spokesman for the Government of National Salvation and Minister of Information Dheifallah al-Shami affirmed on Sunday that the National Salvation Government is committed to cease fire in Hodeidah province despite violations by Saudi-led coalition and its militias.

The spokesman said that the commitment by the government stems from the full responsibility to implement Sweden agreement brokered by the United Nations.

Al-Shami explained that propaganda promoted by the coalition and its militias on targeting the joint committees to cease fire is unfounded and come to try seeking to fail Sweden agreement and covering the coalition’s continued violations in Hodeidah.

The spokesman that the army and popular forces committees committed to cease-fire in areas identified by Stockholm agreement.

Al-Shami explained that the coalition and its militias are trying hard to undermine Sweden agreement.

In December, Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah and the country’s former Saudi-backed government signed an agreement for a ceasefire in Hodeidah during UN-brokered peace talks held in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. Martin Griffiths, the UN special envoy for Yemen, mediated the negotiations.

The limited ceasefire and withdrawal, if implemented, could offer a potential breakthrough in a nearly four-year Saudi-led war that has brought Yemen to the brink of starvation and created the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
