Bahrain Strips Dozens of Activists of Citizenship, Hands Them Jail Terms

A Bahraini court on Tuesday revoked nationality of dozens of activists, handing them jails terms.

Bahraini sources said that 36 activists were stripped of their citizenship, noting that three of them were sentenced to life in prison.

Others were sentenced to ten years and three years in jail, according to the sources.

Al-Wasat Bahraini newspaper reported that the activists were charged for “establishing terrorist group, receiving funds and possessing arms.”

Meanwhile, activists Hussein Radhi said in a tweet that the court rules were based on forced confessions during torture.
