Dr. Bin Habtoor, Miftah participate in 36th National Day celebration of Republic of Yemen

The Government of Change and Construction celebrated the 36th National Day of the Republic of Yemen (May 22) on Saturday in the capital Sana’a with a speech and artistic performance.

During the event, Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh Bin Habtoor, a member of the Supreme Political Council, delivered a speech, beginning by extending greetings, congratulations, and blessings to everyone on behalf of the Supreme Political Council and His Excellency President Mahdi al-Mashat, Chairman of the Council, on this national occasion.

He expressed his gratitude to all those who spoke at the event about the significance of this day and the sacrifices made by the Yemeni people from all governorates of the Republic, culminating in the unification of the nation, both its land and its people.

Bin Habtoor affirmed that May 22, 1990, is one of the greatest days for the Yemeni people in every part of the country, due to its significance in reuniting Yemeni families that had been fragmented by the ill-fated division imposed by Britain during its occupation of the south.

He said, “We take great pride in celebrating the blessed Yemeni Unity Day in thae capital, Sana’a, and remembering the martyrs and heroic freedom fighters who sacrificed for the unification of the nation. We experience the joy of unity because it is what distinguishes us from other systems and peoples who fragmented at the very time we united.”

Bin Habtoor added, “Thirty-six years have passed, and we remain united despite the wars of secession and the emergence of factions driven by their narrow self-interests, seeking to re-fragment and tear the nation apart, forgetting the magnitude of the tragedies that occurred after the independence of Aden and the other governorates from the British occupation, and the extent of the sacrifices and bloodshed caused by the internal conflicts among the leadership.”

Dr. Bin Habtoor explained that during the period of division, the north served as a refuge for people from the southern governorates seeking freedom. They fled to Sana’a and other governorates, either to settle or to obtain passports issued by the Republic of Yemen, which allowed them to travel to all countries of the world except Israel.

He pointed out that “the people of the southern governorates were suffering at that time due to grave mistakes, including the prohibition of private property, which God has permitted, and the failure to protect human life, as those leaders killed citizens and scholars, even slaughtering them, simply to consolidate the regime and the principle of class struggle.”

Bin Habtoor stressed that “whoever wants to return us to the southern part must first acknowledge all their crimes and be tried for them by the people, who have the right to hold them accountable or pardon them,” emphasizing that raising the banner of secession is rejected by the overwhelming majority, indeed the absolute majority, of our people in the south of the country.

He said, “On this historic day, we must express our gratitude to our brothers and families in Sana’a and the northern governorates who welcomed most of the families who were persecuted and expelled from the south of the country, and who preserved the dignity of those honorable families, whether sultans, sheikhs, wise men, elders, or scholars, who were persecuted, expelled, and fled to these governorates.”

The member of the Supreme Political Council stated that the people of Yemen, whether in the north or the south, do not feel divided, noting that the great victories achieved over the past eleven years under the leadership of Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, who was able to lead the Yemeni nation and become part of a great and honorable axis—the axis of resistance—have greatly increased the pride of Yemenis in their homeland and in this important aspect of it. They boast of it before the nations and peoples.

He added, “Our neighbors have tampered with the unity of the homeland and with the Yemeni people and their present, and they want to tamper with their future as well. Therefore, we as Yemenis must strengthen our cohesion and solidarity in confronting our enemies.”

Bin Habtoor continued, “The picture is clear to every Yemeni who is fully aware of the role of the reactionary regimes in the Gulf states and their attempts to undermine Yemen and its unity, as well as their support for the Zionist entity and its backing while it was killing the people of Gaza for two whole years.”

He went on to say, “We must support the major fateful causes of our nation, the greatest of which is the Palestinian cause, which is a victim of the reactionary Arab regimes and the global Zionist project that manifested itself in the Sykes-Picot Agreement and the ominous Balfour Declaration.”

Dr. Bin Habtoor saluted the free and noble Yemeni people who, for two years, have shown solidarity in various ways with their brothers in the Gaza Strip, whether through their weekly demonstrations in Al-Sabeen Square in the capital, Sana’a, or in the squares and public spaces in the liberated governorates and districts, or through direct military support. Expressing his gratitude to all those who participated in preparing and organizing the ceremony, as well as to all those present.

For his part, Acting Prime Minister Allama Muftah explained that the blessed anniversary of Yemeni unity is a cherished memory for every Yemeni, Arab, and Muslim. He considered unity an exceptional and prominent event, a significant breakthrough in the enemy’s strategy, which is based on fragmenting all the peoples of the region according to the Sykes-Picot Agreement, only to later move on to further dividing the already divided and fragmenting the fragmented.

He said, “The unity agreement and the subsequent merger between two political systems that were leading the conflict within the historically unified and oppressed Yemeni society, whose land has been known throughout history as Yemen, with a single geography, history, tribal affiliation, social fabric, deep social ties between Yemeni families, close cultural ties between all Yemeni regions, and shared interests among all the people of Yemen, came about. Division is the exception, not unity.”

Miftah pointed out that the British and the Turks, as occupiers of beloved Yemen, deliberately sought to divide the Yemenis and expand their influence by sowing discord within Yemeni society, although the British were more insidious in their policy. “Divide and conquer” is a tactic employed in every region of the world, not just in Yemen.

He added, “What is happening today is a revival and imitation of failed experiments that have failed globally. Some are adopting the policies of John Garang and Hamid Karzai, distorting historical and geographical facts, and seeking to abandon the great and honorable identity of ‘Faith is Yemeni, and wisdom is Yemeni,’ in order to destroy the identity of an entire people.”

He continued, “Those fools who have cheapened their identity and belonging, and those who follow them, must realize these facts. Yemen is united, and we cannot accept subservience and subjugation to the Zionist-American project after the September 21st Revolution, which grew over decades and for which the Yemeni people made immense sacrifices.”

The acting prime minister explained that those who manipulate the feelings of ordinary people are the ones who trade on false pretenses to remain in the public eye, despite their failures and inability to integrate into society and contribute to its progress, development, and reform. They want to remain at the forefront as agents of foreign powers and proponents of the Sykes-Picot Agreement, which is the Zionist-American project.

He explained that unity was a political measure, while the people themselves are united. Those who worked to divide them were the corrupt and unscrupulous political elites, traitors, agents, and mercenaries who are now pursuing the same goal. They are the ones who created the reality of misery, impoverishment, and systematic ignorance, and they summoned and exploited all the factors of division, regionalism, racism, sectarianism, and tribalism. They worked on these factors and disseminated propaganda among the people in order to attract supporters and allies for their petty, opportunistic, and treacherous projects.

The scholar addressed the agents, traitors, and tools, saying, “Those who lead these projects are not merely a tail of the Zionist-American project, but rather the tail of the tail of the regimes and cheap tools in the region that are leading the fragmentation of the region and inciting conflict among its peoples.”

He called on the Yemeni people not to be deceived by projects that seek to return Yemen to a state of subservience and dependence on the Zionist-American project, adding: “We stand today at a crossroads and on a knife’s edge. The enemy has brought all its forces to the region, and the Yemeni people are at the top of this project’s target list. We are the ones who shattered the project’s arrogance, humiliated it, and forced it to withdraw its warships and aircraft carriers in defeat and disgrace before it could engage the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Miftah reiterated that “Yemen is not neutral regarding the enemy’s targeting of the people of Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, and all the peoples of the region. Our position is clear: we are part of the confrontation against the Zionist-American project with all its tools, means, and methods. Our position is firm and honorable, and just as we triumphed in previous battles, we will triumph in future battles. If the enemy renews its targeting of the Islamic Republic of Iran to subjugate and humiliate it, it will find itself facing an unprecedented confrontation.”

He added: “Our people everywhere should be proud of their country and their identity, and hold their heads high in the face of the rumors and propaganda spread by our enemies in service of the Zionist agenda to undermine you. You have witnessed the appreciation and respect you have received throughout the world; your country alone stood against American arrogance.”

Miftah continued, “When God provided a leader worthy of the greatness of the people, the people mobilized and demonstrated legendary resilience on all levels, presenting a dignified image in confronting the enemies and supporting the causes of their nation in this honorable manner, just as their ancestors did when they defended the holy sites.”

The Acting Prime Minister expressed regret over the deteriorating living conditions and services in the southern governorates and occupied territories. He stated that the occupiers, traitors, and mercenaries are working to oppress and humiliate these people through the so-called King Salman Relief Center, which he described as a tool of the Zionist-American project to subjugate and exploit nations. He emphasized that all projects hostile to the unity of Yemen are doomed to failure, regardless of the arrogance and propaganda employed.

Miftah concluded his remarks by saying, “On this national occasion, we must not forget the immense tragedy endured by our oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza, nor the grave injustice suffered by the kidnapped and imprisoned men, women, and children in the Zionist entity’s prisons. We have not forgotten, nor will we ever forget, the daily injustice, destruction, and terror inflicted upon our people in Jerusalem and the West Bank, and the displacement suffered by the Lebanese people. We stand with them and assure them that they are not alone; the Yemeni people stand with them.”

At the ceremony, which was attended by Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, Dhaifallah Rassam, and a number of state officials, the Mayor of Sana’a, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, affirmed that May 22nd, the day of the blessed reunification of Yemen, is not merely a passing date or a political achievement, but rather the destiny and fate of the Yemeni people in its north, south, east, and west.

He pointed out that May 22nd represents a correction of the course of Yemeni history, which British colonialism sought to distort by separating its north from its south, just as the current occupier is attempting to do. He explained that Great Britain, on which the sun never set, saw its sun fall in the volcano of Aden, and that the occupier will fall today under the feet of the heroes on the path of the Quranic movement, whose radiant light is carried by the leader, Sayyid Abdul-Malik bin Badr al-Din al-Houthi.

He said, “Those who wish to renounce their Yemeni identity are in fact renouncing the honor of their faith, which was preached by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). They have placed themselves at the mercy of the occupier, serving the Americans and surrendering to Zionism, without even a shred of respect, not even in jest. They have sacrificed themselves, their religion, and their homeland to the calculations of the colonizer, the occupier, and Zionism, turning themselves into burning rubble in Hell.”

He added, “Congratulations to the mujahideen whom God has distinguished from the wicked, placing them on the side of righteousness through their jihad, their struggle, their faith, their striving, and their submission to God’s will. Congratulations to the leader of the nation, to the mujahideen people, and to the president and members of the Supreme Political Council and the Government of Construction and Change on the blessed anniversary of Unity Day.”

The event included poetry recitations, songs, and theatrical performances that expressed the grandeur of the occasion.
