The Saudi-led coalition demolished a desalination plant located in the Yemeni island of Kamran amid the cholera outbreak responsible for taking the lives of more than a thousand civilians.

The epidemic has been so tough on Yemenis that even hospital rooms were not enough, calling for the need of using hallways to treat the insane number of cases.

Kamran Island, which is the largest Yemeni island in the Red Sea, located at the southern end of the Red Sea, 108 km2 (42 sq mi) island is 18 km (11 mi) long and 7 km (4.3 mi) wide. Also, it is a “shelf island” located in the shallow waters of the Arabian peninsula’s continental shelf with coral reefs surrounding three sides of the island. Kamran is generally flat, with a few hills in the south. Its highest point is Jabal Yaman (24 meters high), situated about three kilometers from Ra’s al Yamen, the southeastern cape of the island.

Speaking of Yemeni islands, the alien-looking island, Socotra, could not escape the greed of the Saudi-led coalition during such time of hardship that would be taken advantage of. Saudi-backed Yemeni ex-president, Hadi, leased the island for an upcoming hundred years to be under the control of the UAE, a participant in the coalition.

The Saudi-led coalition keeps on destroying the already-weak Yemeni infrastructure, imposing an air, sea and land siege and uses biological warfare to suffocate the country that maintains its revolutionary spirit high as massive demonstrations embody.

Cholera, a biological weapon that was used in wars in the past, particularly by the Japanese against the Chinese in World War 2, is suspected by many to currently being used against the almost 30 million Yemeni population.

One of the reasons that assisted in reaching the aforementioned conclusion is that it has mostly hit Ansarullah or Houthi-controlled areas, the capital Sana’a being one of them.

On the other hand, it rarely exists in southern Yemen, where the coalition enjoys a strong presence, such as in the city of Aden.
