Following the capture of a major terrorist stronghold earlier on Sunday, elite forces of the Syrian Arab Army have swept through nine more towns throughout the southeastern countryside of Idlib province.

According to military-affiliated sources, following the Syrian Arab Army’s liberation of Sinjar on Sunday morning, elite assault units of the Tiger Forces Division maintained an offensive posture, capitalizing on their current momentum and capturing from rebel-held militias another nine towns.

The newly liberated towns in question have been identified as Nabbaz Qabli, Nabbaz Shamali, Ramleh, Siraa, Saree, Jadedah, Khyarah, Al-Matoustah, and Kafraya Al-Ma’arat – all are located to the east and west of Sinjar.

Khyarah, Al-Matoustah, and Kafraya Al-Ma’arat were reported earlier on as possibly being taken by army forces, however, at the time Al-Masdar News could not positively confirm the advance. In any case, this is now confirmed.

By these latest advances, it appears that the Syrian Army is working on establishing a buffer zone around Sinjar to ward off any possible counter-attacks by militant groups aimed at retaking the stronghold town.
