Liz Grand: 17 million people suffering from food insecurity in Yemen

The United Nations Resident Representative, Yemen’s new humanitarian coordinator, Liz Grand. , Liz Grand arrived today at Sana’a International Airport and said in a press conference held at Sana’a Airport that she was happy to be appointed as the humanitarian coordinator in Yemen.
“The world’s greatest humanitarian catastrophe is in Yemen and millions of Yemenis depend on humanitarian aid to survive,” she said.
She noted that the Secretary-General of the United Nations will hold a conference on the third of next April, attended by a number of countries ,to provide assistance and support to Yemen.
NGOs and the United Nations needed nearly $ 3 billions to address the humanitarian disaster in Yemen, $ 1 billion of which came from donors. The priority is to focus on food insecurity, where as nearly 17 million people are food-insecure in Yemen, she explained.
