Abu Obeida: We Have Decided To Release Zionist Soldier Edan Alexander Today

The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, have decided to release Zionist soldier Edan Alexander, who holds US citizenship, today (Monday), May 12, 2025.

This announcement came in a post published Monday on the Al-Qassam Brigades’ official Telegram channel by its spokesperson, Abu Obeida.

Yesterday, the Hamas movement announced that it had conducted communications with the US administration over the past few days as part of efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, expressing a high level of positivity.

The movement confirmed that the release of soldier Edan Alexander came as part of the steps taken toward achieving a ceasefire, opening the border crossings, and allowing the entry of humanitarian aid and relief to our people in Gaza.
