Yemen Announces Imposition of Naval Blockade on Haifa Port

4

The Yemeni Armed Forces announced the imposition of a full naval blockade on the port of Haifa in the occupied Palestinian territories, as a punitive response to what it described as “the Israeli military’s brutal escalation against Gaza.”

In an official statement, the General Command of the Armed Forces stated that the measure was taken “in reaction to the continued siege and starvation of Gaza, the daily massacres committed against civilians, and Israel’s refusal to lift the blockade or cease its aggression.”

The statement further declared that Haifa Port “has been designated a naval target zone as of the moment of this announcement,” and warned all shipping companies with vessels at or bound for Haifa to “take this declaration and any subsequent notices into account.”

According to the communiqué, the decision follows “the successful enforcement of a maritime siege on Umm al-Rashrash Port, which has since ceased operations.” It pledged that the Armed Forces “will not hesitate to take additional measures in support of the Palestinian people and their resistance as long as the aggression and blockade persist.”

The statement concluded by affirming that “all related restrictions on air and sea navigation, as well as logistical support operations, will be suspended upon the cessation of hostilities against Gaza and the lifting of the siege.”
