Iranian official: We are seriously considering closing Strait of Hormuz

7

A prominent member of the Iranian parliament said on Saturday that his country is seriously considering closing the strategic Strait of Hormuz, in light of the ongoing Zionist aggression against Iran, which has been ongoing since dawn on Friday.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Ismail Kowsari, a member of the parliament’s Security Committee, as saying that Iran is seriously considering closing the Strait of Hormuz, located between Oman and Iran and considered the world’s most important oil shipping gateway.

The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow shipping lane in the Gulf region and is an important outlet for oil to the world, with two-thirds of the world’s oil production passing through it.
