Head of the World Union of Scholars of the Resistance: Disarmament Is a National Betrayal Under Official Cover!
In a bold and forthright stance, the head of the World Union of Scholars of the Resistance, the mujahid Sheikh Maher Hammoud, exposed the dangerous scheme led by Washington and Tel Aviv through their domestic agents in Lebanon under the slogan “monopolizing arms in the hands of the state.” He affirmed that this move does not express sovereignty but rather U.S.-Zionist tutelage imposed on Lebanon through intimidation and economic and political blackmail, with the open participation of Arab regimes marked by subservience and normalization.
Sheikh Hammoud said on Saturday that this decision is a blatant attempt to strip weapons from the honorable and the resistance after the Zionist enemy failed to achieve its aims through direct wars. He stressed that the decision is dangerous and constitutes a slap in the face of the pure blood that watered the soil of the South and shattered the arrogance of the occupation.
He affirmed that the project is now being carried out by domestic instruments tied to the Western agenda, noting that the rise of both Joseph Aoun and Nawaf Salam to decision-making positions was not innocent but came through direct intervention by the forces of global hegemony to pass this scheme under the cover of “legitimacy.”
The sheikh explained: “President Aoun is trying to walk a tightrope of ‘balance,’ while Nawaf Salam is racing to please foreign embassies—without the slightest regard for the chaos and upheaval this may bring upon the country.” He warned that this political deviation “will be recorded on the pages of shame,” and history will not forgive it.
Sheikh Hammoud issued a clear warning to the Lebanese government: “Silence in the face of foreign diktats is treason. Surrendering the resistance’s weapons is an unforgivable act of submission. National dignity is not to be bartered for sanctions or dollars.”
He pointed to unforgettable lessons in Lebanese history, recalling the ill-fated May 17 Agreement and the intervention of international forces in the 1980s—efforts that failed in the face of the people’s steadfastness and the awareness of the resistance, forcing Washington to withdraw and acknowledge the national will through the Taif Agreement.
Sheikh Hammoud concluded with a firm, direct admonition to Aoun and Salam: “If you lack the courage to say ‘no,’ then resign with honor. That is better than being tools that push Lebanon into a dark tunnel serving the enemy rather than the homeland.”
