Iran: US Sanctions on ICC Judges Open Door to Complicity in Israeli Crimes
The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, stated on Thursday that the United States’ decision to impose sanctions on four judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) constitutes “blatant complicity” in the war crimes and genocide committed against Palestinians.
In a post on the X platform, Baghaei emphasized that the sanctions target judges from Canada, France, Singapore, and Fiji due to their rulings related to the crimes of the Israeli enemy, asserting that this move is not merely an attack on international justice but a clear message supporting Israel’s impunity .
Baghaei condemned the U.S. for exploiting its power to grant “unlimited immunity” to the Israeli entity, encouraging continued crimes against civilians and endangering global peace and security .
He argued that the absence of commitment to international law exposes the true nature of what he called the “rules-based system,” which serves its own interests while ignoring international laws, covenants, and humanitarian principles .
