Zionist Genocide in Gaza Escalates: Over 62,000 Martyred Amid Official Famine Declaration, Daily Massacres, and Relentless Bloodshed

The Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip has entered its 23rd consecutive month, harvesting lives without pause and cementing one of the worst genocides of the modern era. As the killing machine continues bombing homes, schools, and displaced persons’ tents, the numbers of martyrs and wounded soar to unprecedented levels—backed by unconditional U.S. and Western support, and abetted by UN inaction that has failed to stop the bloodshed.

Today, Gaza is encircled by death on all sides: relentless bombing, deliberate starvation, suffocating siege, and the total collapse of health and humanitarian infrastructure. The United Nations has officially declared famine in the Strip—marking the first time in modern Middle Eastern history such a declaration has been made.

Rising Death Toll: 62,622 Martyred and Over 157,000 Wounded

The Gaza Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that the death toll from Zionist aggression since October 7, 2023, has risen to 62,622 martyrs and 157,673 wounded, including thousands of children and women.

In just the past 24 hours, hospitals received 61 martyrs and 308 injured, while an additional 298 martyrs were added after verification by the judicial committee for the missing.

The ministry confirmed that many victims remain trapped under rubble or in the streets, unreachable by rescue and ambulance crews due to ongoing bombardment.

Daily Massacres Against Civilians and Displaced

Massacres continue daily. On Saturday alone, nine people were martyred in a strike on a home in Gaza City’s al-Sabra neighborhood and on a tent sheltering displaced families in Khan Younis, in addition to six more killed while waiting for aid in northern Gaza.

Medical sources reported that 34 martyrs were recorded today, with the toll rising rapidly amid the brutal assault that targets even gatherings of civilians fleeing the flames of war.

Victims of “Bread of Life”: Over 2,076 Martyred and 15,000 Injured

“Bread of life” has become a death trap in Gaza. The Ministry of Health announced that the total number of victims killed while waiting for humanitarian aid has reached 2,076 martyrs and more than 15,308 wounded since the launch of the so-called U.S.-Israeli “mechanism” in May.

In a single day, hospitals received 16 martyrs and 111 wounded from among those awaiting aid. The ministry emphasized that this systematic targeting represents a continuation of the engineered starvation strategy imposed by the occupation to enforce surrender through hunger.

Famine: The Deadliest Face of Genocide

The Ministry of Health confirmed that famine and malnutrition have claimed 281 lives, including 114 children, with eight new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours alone.

It stressed that what it described as “engineered starvation” is but one chapter of the Zionist genocide against Gaza’s people—alongside the systematic destruction of the health sector, mass killings, and the policy of “generational extermination.”

Yesterday, the United Nations officially declared famine in Gaza Governorate, warning it could spread to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis by the end of September—an unprecedented development in Middle Eastern history.

UN Official: “A Tragic Historic Moment”

Jean-Martin Bauer, Director of Food Security at the World Food Programme, described the famine declaration in Gaza as “a tragic historic moment,” noting that this is the first confirmed famine in the region.

Bauer said famine represents “severe food deprivation, widespread acute malnutrition, and deaths from hunger,” calling for urgent measures to protect civilians and halt the humanitarian collapse.

Civil Defense: Rescue Missions Amid Fire and Rubble

Despite the dangers, Gaza’s Civil Defense continues its humanitarian work, conducting 39 rescue and relief missions in recent hours.

The missions ranged from transporting martyrs and wounded from bombardments, extinguishing fires caused by airstrikes, and aiding trapped medical emergencies. The Civil Defense stressed that the continued targeting of homes and displaced persons’ tents worsens the catastrophe—amid acute shortages of equipment and resources.

A Major Humanitarian Catastrophe

Amid daily massacres, soaring casualty figures, and officially declared famine, Gaza today stands at the heart of a massive humanitarian catastrophe—etched as one of the darkest chapters of genocide in modern history.

With ongoing U.S. support for the Zionist enemy and international complicity, the blood of martyrs and the cries of the hungry and displaced remain a stain on the conscience of the world. Meanwhile, the people of Gaza continue their resistance and steadfastness against the Zionist war machine that has left Palestinians with only two choices: death under bombardment or death by hunger.
