The Mujahid Martyr Ahmed Ghalib Al-Rahawi… Prime Minister of the Martyrs and the Voice of the Resisting South in the Battle of the Promised Conquest
With pride and honor, the Yemeni people pray for the soul of the mujahid martyr Ahmed Ghalib Nasser Al-Rahawi Al-Yaf‘i, Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction, who rose to martyrdom on the afternoon of Thursday, the fifth of Rabi‘ al-Awwal 1447 AH, corresponding to 28 August 2025 CE, along with a number of his ministerial colleagues following a treacherous Zionist strike.
They ascended in the heart of the sacred battle waged by Yemen in support of Palestine and Gaza, as part of the march of the holy jihad and the promised conquest against the forces of global arrogance.
A national biography and continuous struggle
Martyr Al-Rahawi hails from the Al-Rahawi tribe in Khanfar District — the largest district of Abyan Governorate — where his tribe is spread across the areas of Batis, Htatat, Majbala, and Al-Kaida. From his early days he was known as one of the foremost social and political figures in Abyan Governorate. He held high administrative positions, beginning as Director General of Khanfar District, then Deputy Governor of Al-Mahwit Governorate, before returning to serve as Deputy Governor of Abyan.
His role did not stop at the administrative level; he was a national and political figure active within the General People’s Congress, serving as a member of its permanent committee and political bureau, before assuming membership of the Supreme Political Council in March 2019, representing a prominent voice of the southern resistant current opposing the American-Saudi aggression.
A family legacy of sacrifice
The martyr was born into a patriotic, resistant household that offered sacrifices generation after generation. He is the son of the prominent political and social figure Ghalib Nasser Al-Rahawi, who was assassinated by British occupation instruments in the 1970s, and he is also the cousin of the late respected Sheikh Al-Rahawi, “Shaql Ahmed Al-Rahawi.” He was thus a continuation of a deeply rooted national line in southern Yemen, carrying the banner of dignity and resistance against colonialism and its instruments.
Challenges and assassination attempts
Throughout his years of struggle, the martyr paid dearly for his national stances; he was subjected to repeated assassination attempts, and criminal Al-Qaeda elements detonated his sole home in the Batis area of Abyan, forcing him to relocate to the capital, Sana’a, in 2015 to settle there. He continued his national path there without wavering or retreating from his principled positions in confronting aggression and foreign tutelage.
The Government of Change and Construction… partnership and national responsibility
On 10 August 2024, the revolutionary and political leadership selected the martyr Ahmed Ghalib Al-Rahawi as Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction, at one of the most delicate stages the homeland has passed through. The selection itself was a clear national message, affirming that the Yemeni government would not be the exclusive preserve of any single political faction, but rather the fruit of a unifying partnership encompassing various sincere national components. Al-Rahawi’s government bore the burdens of the people and sought to provide services under conditions of war and siege, which made it a direct target of the aggression of the Zionist enemy.
Martyrdom — pride, honor, and a legacy of service
The martyrdom of the prime minister and a number of ministers was not a random incident or merely the targeting of political figures; rather, it is testimony to the grandeur of the Yemeni stance.
The Yemeni people, with their leadership and notables, present martyrs in a single row in the nation’s great battle, heedless of the cost and proud that the blood of their leaders leads on the field of dignity and honor.
Martyrdom… an unconquerable pride and honor
The martyrdom of the prime minister and several of his comrades does not represent a loss so much as pride and honor, and an embodiment of the greatness of the Yemeni position. The Yemeni people do not only send forth their sons to the battlefield; they also send forth their leaders in the great battle of the nation, heedless of the cost and proud that the blood of their leaders advances in the field of dignity and honor.
Until his final moments, Martyr Al-Rahawi personified the image of a resolute national leader who did not budge from the front of confrontation; he departed immortalized by his stances and his blood.
Attacking the enemy… an attack on the Yemeni people
The Israeli enemy’s targeting of this united national government is an attack on the Yemeni people as a whole, because it expresses the enemy’s rejection of the voice of the people and their free will.
But this crime will only increase Yemenis’ steadfastness, mobilization, and readiness in the battle of the promised conquest and the holy jihad. The ascent of Martyr Al-Rahawi with his comrades expresses the deep complementarity between the leadership and the people, and the unity of the national resistant stance in support of Gaza and Palestine.
A message of resilience and mobilization for the future
The Zionist enemy, together with America, attempts to break Yemen’s will by targeting its leaders and symbols, yet these crimes only deepen Yemenis’ steadfastness and determination to continue in the battle of the promised conquest and the holy jihad. The blood of Martyr Al-Rahawi and his companions turns into new fuel for the people’s steadfastness and mobilization, making the Yemeni position firmer on the line of confrontation until victory is achieved and Gaza and Palestine are supported until full liberation.
Thus, the martyrdom of Al-Rahawi and his companions proves that Yemen is present at the heart of the great battle, advancing officially and popularly in support of Palestine and Gaza — a practical affirmation that Yemeni blood has mingled with the blood of the nation in the battle of liberation against America and Israel, and that the blood of national leaders fortifies and strengthens the resistance project until victory.
An everlasting national testament
With the passing of Martyr Al-Rahawi, Yemen has lost one of its most prominent resisting figures, yet his national and struggle legacy will remain present as a witness for generations, and a clear message that the project of freedom and sovereignty is built only with the blood of free leaders who believed in the homeland and its just cause, and trod the path of jihad until they attained the honor of martyrdom.
Yemenis view the martyrdom of their national leaders as practical evidence of Yemen’s advanced position in this decisive battle. When ministers and state officials lead the ranks and offer their blood, they prove that Yemen — as a state, a people and a leadership — stands at the heart of the battle against America and Israel, and that its sacrifices are an honor befitting a nation that knows nothing but steadfastness and dignity.
