UNRWA Media Advisor Describes Gaza City Conditions as “Beyond Catastrophe”

UNRWA Media Advisor Adnan Abu Hasna described the situation in Gaza City as “beyond catastrophe” amid intensified Israeli military operations in the city.

In press statements on Sunday Abu Hasna stated that in addition to the recently declared famine humanitarian relief operations for Gaza residents including health services water and sanitation waste management and water supply have been severely damaged.

He explained these conditions have driven residents to the western part of Gaza City an extremely crowded area with no basic services or safe place for displacement.

Earlier UNRWA warned that the intensification of Israeli military operations in Gaza City would expose nearly one million people to new forced displacement noting that any further escalation amid famine would worsen suffering and push more people toward catastrophe.

UNRWA indicated that continuous Israeli bombardment and evacuation orders are forcing entire families to flee their homes again amid fear and destruction.

Last Wednesday UN Security Council members except the United States issued a joint statement calling for an immediate permanent and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza a significant increase in aid throughout the Strip and for Israel to immediately and unconditionally lift all restrictions on aid delivery.

They also called on Israel to immediately reverse its decision to seize control of Gaza City
