Araghchi: Attempts to Reinstate UN Security Council Resolutions Against Iran Are Illegal

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed on Wednesday that the attempts by the United States and the three European countriesBritain, Germany, and France — to exploit the dispute resolution mechanism within the nuclear agreement in order to restore the previously annulled UN Security Council resolutions against Iran are illegal and devoid of any legal standing.

Violation of International Law

In his speech before the General Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Uganda, Araghchi stated that such actions constitute a clear violation of international law, emphasizing that several UN Security Council members, including two permanent members, have already objected to these moves.

Upholding the Principles of the Non-Aligned Movement

Araghchi reiterated the importance of adhering to the core principles of the Non-Aligned Movement, particularly:

  • The right of nations to self-determination.

  • The prohibition of the use of force.

  • The condemnation of unilateral coercive measures.

He urged member states to strengthen solidarity and unity among developing nations in the face of mounting challenges and threats stemming from unipolar dominance and the hegemony of certain powers.

Call for Collective Resistance and Cooperation

Araghchi stressed that cooperation among developing nations represents the first line of defense in safeguarding their sovereignty and independence.

Through these statements, Iran reaffirms its commitment to international law and calls for mutual respect among nations, urging all developing countries to stand united against foreign domination and exploitation.
