Foreign Ministry Welcomes Latest UN Efforts to Achieve Peace in Yemen

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the latest United Nations efforts aimed at achieving peace in Yemen, in accordance with the principles of sovereignty, independence, and non-interference in Yemen’s internal affairs.

In a statement issued today, the Ministry emphasized that achieving genuine and lasting peace requires ending hostile policies and actions, as well as terminating foreign presence and all forms of occupation across Yemeni territories. Such measures, it said, would contribute effectively and realistically to laying a solid and sustainable foundation for peace and stability in Yemen, and reinforce the serious efforts of the Sana’a Government to establish firm bases that guarantee security and peace both regionally and internationally.

The statement noted that several humanitarian files could be resolved if there were genuine intentions to advance peace; however, the continued use of these issues as a tool for pressure and blackmail by the Al Saud regime demonstrates ill intentions and a lack of will to move forward on the peace track.

Regarding recent legal measures taken by the government against espionage cells involved in the attempted assassination of the members of the Government of Change and Construction, the Ministry clarified that these steps were constitutional and lawful, not arbitrary, and that any demand for the release of those implicated in this crime constitutes a violation of the UN Charter and international law.

The Ministry called on the United Nations to exert pressure on its affiliated organizations to hand over the remaining individuals involved in the heinous attack on the Yemeni government on 5 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447 AH (August 28, 2025).

The statement further stressed that the UN should cooperate with Sana’a on this matter and rectify the imbalances in its operations, rather than demand the release of those accused of participating in the crime.

Reaffirming its continued commitment to facilitating and supporting humanitarian actors in Yemen, the Ministry underlined that all humanitarian work must adhere to its established principles and standards, and should not be politicized or exploited in ways that compromise Yemen’s security and sovereignty.

Finally, the Ministry highlighted the importance of strengthening active partnerships between the Yemeni government and humanitarian organizations to ensure effective assistance that alleviates the worsening humanitarian suffering caused by the ongoing aggression and blockade since March 26, 2015, and to build confidence in the transparency and neutrality of the UN’s humanitarian role and that of its partners.
