“Protection of Palestinian Journalists” praises European popular movement against media outlets biased towards “Israel”

The Center for the Protection of Palestinian Journalists praised Saturday the popular movement in Europe and the escalating legal actions against international media outlets accused of bias towards the Israeli entity, considering it a positive development towards achieving justice for Palestinians after two consecutive years of the war of extermination against the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the Center said that “the movement in the German capital, Berlin, when activists stormed the building of the German Second Channel (ZDF) in protest against its biased coverage of the war in Gaza, is a moral outcry against media complicity with the crimes of the Zionist entity.”

The Center considered this action “a legitimate civil protest within the framework of freedom of expression guaranteed by law according to Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.”

It affirmed that the legal cases filed against officials in major media institutions, such as the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), constitute a legal precedent that may open the door to holding accountable media outlets involved in incitement or falsifying facts.

The Center called on the international community and the European Union to review their policies on protecting freedom of expression to ensure that this freedom is not used to cover up violations or justify war crimes.
