December 13: A Renewed Witness to the Crimes of the U.S.–Saudi–Emirati Aggression
Throughout the years of the U.S.–Saudi–Emirati aggression against Yemen, December 13 has become a date heavy with blood and rubble—a day on which airstrikes and massacres recur, and evidence is renewed of a war that targeted the Yemeni people in their lives, homes, schools, markets, and infrastructure, without distinction or restraint. On this date, across successive years, bloody chapters were written that affirm the criminal and systematic nature of the aggression against the Yemeni people.
December 13, 2015: Massacres of Villages and Civilian Infrastructure
On this day in 2015, coalition aircraft committed one of their most heinous massacres in Hajjah Governorate, where 11 civilians—among them women and children—were killed and 13 wounded after six airstrikes targeted Al-Hajawrah village in Haradh District. This was followed by 11 additional airstrikes on various areas of the district using internationally banned cluster munitions.
The air force also struck Hiran District and destroyed the Al-Huqouf Bridge in Mustaba District, a vital link between Hajjah, Amran, and Hodeidah, in a clear attempt to sever supply and movement routes.
In Saada, four civilians were killed when the home of Ali Raqa’ was bombed in the Dahyan area of Majz District.
In Taiz, the aggression targeted a residential neighborhood and the power station in Al-Mokha District, killing four civilians. Three others were injured when a house in Al-Jahmaliyah was shelled, while a child was killed and his sister injured by mercenary shelling in Tha’bat.
Airstrikes spread across wide areas of Taiz, including Al-Shurayjah, Salah, Samer Cement Plant, and civilian homes in Dimnat Khadir, Harat Al-Suwais, Al-Zanqal, and Awahaj Junction, in addition to the targeting of Al-Hayat School near the old airport.
In Sana’a, a civilian home in Bani Matar was destroyed, while Al-Sabahah and Haz in Hamdan were struck, causing extensive damage to farmland and grazing areas.
Coalition aircraft also destroyed Al-Damaj School in Sirwah, Marib, as well as shops and a fuel station in Sirwah Market. Strikes hit Al-Nadr areas in Majzar, and Al-Nahdayn in Al-Sab’een District of the capital.
December 13, 2016: Targeting Services and Communications
In 2016, a woman was killed by a mercenary sniper in Al-Salou District, Taiz. Coalition aircraft targeted telecommunications transformers in Al-Zaheri area of Al-Mokha, destroying the communications network and cutting services entirely.
In Sana’a, a house in Arhab was destroyed, and Hizayz and Jabal Al-Manar in Al-Haymah Al-Kharijiyah were struck.
Airstrikes also hit civilian homes and farms in Sirwah (Marib), Al-Zahir (Al-Bayda), Al-Salif (Hodeidah), Al-Qaflah (Amran), and Haradh (Hajjah), as well as Shabwah and Saada, accompanied by intense missile and artillery shelling along border districts.
December 13, 2017: The Prisoners’ Crime and the Expansion of Bloodshed
The year 2017 marked a particularly dark chapter. Thirty-one prisoners were killed and dozens wounded when seven airstrikes targeted a building designated for detainees in Shu’ub District of the capital, a crime that sparked widespread outrage.
In Taiz, two civilians were killed when a vehicle in Maqbanah was struck.
Saada witnessed a series of deadly airstrikes on Qatabir, Munabbih, Sahhar, Saqayn, Ghamr, and Baqim, targeting homes, livestock, and civilian property, alongside Saudi missile and artillery fire on border districts.
Strikes extended to Jizan, Asir, and Najran, while Haradh, Midi, Nihm, Usaylan, Zabid, Al-Khokhah, Al-Jarahi, and Bayt Al-Faqih were also targeted, leaving widespread destruction of agricultural and residential property.
December 13, 2018: Artillery Shelling and Crimes Against Residential Areas
In 2018, six civilians were injured by artillery shelling on the 7 July residential area in Al-Hali District, Hodeidah, alongside heavy shelling of southern and western Al-Tuhayta.
Coalition aircraft struck Al-Buq’, while missile and artillery fire targeted populated villages in Razih (Saada) and areas in Nihm, Al-Haymah Al-Kharijiyah, and Najran.
December 13, 2019: Mercenary Escalation in Hodeidah
On this day in 2019, a woman was killed and another woman and a child injured when artillery shelled a home in Kilometer 16, Al-Durayhimi. Intense shelling also targeted Al-Durayhimi, Al-Jabaliyah, Al-Tuhayta, Hays, and Bayt Al-Faqih, alongside the establishment of new military fortifications—an explicit violation of de-escalation and a direct attack on civilians.
December 13, 2020: Heavy Airstrikes and Indiscriminate Shelling
In 2020, coalition aircraft launched intensive airstrikes on Madghal, Majzar, and Mahliyah in Marib, and targeted Haradh. Apache helicopters shelled Al-Sharafah and Al-Far’ in Kitaf, Saada.
