Parliament: Turning the Occupied Governorates into Arenas of Conflict Threatens Yemen’s Security and Unity

The Yemeni Parliament condemned the escalating actions taking place in the occupied southern and eastern governorates, carried out by mercenaries affiliated with the Saudi-Emirati aggression coalition.

In its statement, Parliament strongly denounced and rejected all conspiratorial schemes being plotted against Yemen, the latest of which seeks to transform the occupied Yemeni governorates into arenas for conflict, score-settling, and power-sharing among rival mercenary militias loyal to the Saudi and Emirati regimes.

Parliament called on free citizens in the occupied southern and eastern governorates to unite their ranks and confront the criminal plots being orchestrated against Yemen, which target its unity, security, sovereignty, and stability.

It warned the militias and mercenaries of the aggression against continuing to tamper with the nation’s security and stability, holding them fully responsible for the chaos unfolding in the occupied governorates, including plundering wealth, terrorizing civilians, blocking roads, forcibly displacing residents of northern governorates, and looting their private property.

Parliament described these practices as criminal and destructive acts that violate national values and principles, the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen, applicable laws, as well as international agreements, conventions, and humanitarian and moral norms.

The statement noted that the looting of property, occupation of citizens’ homes, and violations of personal sanctity occurring in Hadramout and Al-Mahrah governorates are no less severe than the crimes and violations taking place in Gaza. It praised the historic role embodied by the people of Hadramout and Al-Mahrah.

The statement further explained that Hadramout Governorate is a symbol of peace, as it is home to scholars, saints, and righteous figures, as well as merchants and business leaders. It represents fraternity and the strengthening of social harmony, in addition to its significant role in economic development due to its strategic location.

Parliament affirmed that the crimes and violations committed by the militias of the so-called Southern Transitional Council are alien to Hadramout, tarnish the reputation of its honorable people, and bear no relation to their history.

The Parliament urged all national forces and free citizens to assume their religious, national, and historical responsibility regarding the ongoing chaos and destruction in the occupied governorates, calling for firm opposition to these acts and for safeguarding Yemen’s unity, security, sovereignty, and stability.
