Al-Hayya: We Reject Guardianship, and Resistance Is a Legitimate Right

The head of the Hamas movement, Dr. Khalil Al-Hayya, affirmed the movement’s adherence to the Palestinian national constants and its categorical rejection of all forms of guardianship or mandate imposed on the Palestinian people. He stressed that any political track must stem from the Palestinians’ right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state.

Al-Hayya explained that Hamas remains committed to what was agreed upon with the Palestinian factions regarding the issues outlined in U.S. President Donald Trump’s vision for ending the war, in a manner consistent with national rights and Palestinian constants, and in a way that ensures an end to the aggression against the Gaza Strip.

In the same context, Al-Hayya emphasized that resistance and its weapons constitute a legitimate right guaranteed by international law to all peoples living under occupation, noting that this right is inseparably linked to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and the end of occupation.

The head of Hamas also pointed to the movement’s openness to studying any proposals that would preserve the right to resistance, provided that they guarantee the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and enable the Palestinian people to fully exercise their right to self-determination.

Regarding political and humanitarian arrangements, Al-Hayya clarified that the task of the “Peace Council” is to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, secure the necessary funding, and supervise the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, in a way that addresses the consequences of the aggression and alleviates the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Al-Hayya concluded by affirming that Hamas will continue to work with all Palestinian national forces in a manner that serves Palestinian unity and strengthens the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of occupation and its ongoing aggression.
