December 17 turns, year after year, into a renewed testament to the criminal and systematic nature of the American–Saudi–Emirati aggression against Yemen. This date was not merely a passing moment in the course of the war; rather, it became a recurring station marked by the fall of martyrs and wounded, the destruction of residential neighborhoods, and the targeting of infrastructure and civilian facilities—clearly demonstrating that what Yemenis have endured was a comprehensive war that targeted people, land, and life indiscriminately.

December 17, 2015: Targeting Land and People

On this day in 2015, coalition aircraft launched an airstrike on the Al-Arqoub area in Al-Tayyal District, Sana’a Governorate, causing extensive damage to agricultural lands.
In Marib, coalition mercenaries shelled the Al-Mas and Al-Makhdarah areas in Al-Jad’an District, alongside more than ten airstrikes targeting Al-Mas Camp and the Hulhulan checkpoint, as well as additional strikes on Al-Makhdarah—marking a wide-scale military escalation.

December 17, 2016: Comprehensive Escalation and Banned Weapons

The year 2016 witnessed unprecedented escalation. Two civilians were injured after three airstrikes targeted Al-Namsa Bridge in Majz District, Saada Governorate. Coalition aircraft carried out 26 airstrikes on various areas in Baqim Border District, in addition to seven strikes behind Kahlan and others on Al-Hashama, while two cluster bombs were dropped on Al-Malahiz area.
Civilian facilities, stone quarries in Nihm, customs facilities and Haradh city, Qaflat Adhar District in Amran, and wide areas in Taiz and the Capital Secretariat were also targeted—reflecting a clear strategy of comprehensive destruction.

December 17, 2017: Massacres of Women and Schools

This year recorded one of the most horrific crimes, with ten women martyred following three airstrikes that hit a wedding convoy in Al-Haysan area, Harib Al-Qaramish District, Marib.
In Taiz, three civilians—including a school principal—were killed when an airstrike targeted a school in Mawza’ District, in a blatant crime against education.
Airstrikes extended to Al-Hudaydah, Marib, Sana’a, Hajjah, Saada, and Lahij, as well as cross-border strikes in Najran, underscoring the breadth and brutality of the aggression.

December 17, 2018: Targeting Children and Residential Areas

In 2018, a child was injured by gunfire from coalition mercenaries while herding sheep in Al-Jabaliya, Al-Hudaydah. The city of Al-Durayhimi and other residential areas were subjected to intense shelling exceeding hundreds of artillery rounds.
Coalition aircraft also struck public roads in Al-Dahi, targeted populated villages in border districts of Saada, and carried out heavy strikes on sites and areas in Jizan and Najran.

December 17, 2019: Destruction of Farms and Livelihoods

The year 2019 saw escalated artillery shelling of agricultural areas in Bayt Al-Faqih, Al-Tuhayta, and Al-Durayhimi in Al-Hudaydah Governorate, igniting fires in citizens’ farms and destroying sources of livelihood, alongside the establishment of new military fortifications in blatant violation of agreements.

December 17, 2020: Continued Airstrikes and Border Shelling

In 2020, coalition aircraft carried out airstrikes on Mahliya and Rahbah districts in Marib, and Jabal Al-Hadhan in Kitaf, Saada, alongside Saudi missile and artillery shelling of Razih District.
In Al-Hudaydah, surveillance flights, heavy artillery shelling, and the construction of fortifications within farmlands continued—an escalation targeting civilians and agricultural infrastructure.

December 17, 2021: Targeting Public Facilities

That year, coalition aircraft targeted Al-Balq area in Marib with a series of intensive strikes, the government complex in Al-Hazm, Al-Jawf, as well as Taiz Airport, schools, and civilian facilities. Artillery and missile shelling also continued in border areas of Saada and various locations in Al-Hudaydah.

December 17, 2022: Victims of War Remnants

In the latest chapter of this blood-stained memory, two civilians were killed by the explosion of an unexploded ordnance left behind by the aggression in Saada Governorate. Meanwhile, surveillance flights and artillery shelling continued in Al-Hudaydah and Taiz, with new military fortifications established—evidence that the consequences of the aggression continue to claim lives years later.
