New Strike Against the “Southern Transitional Council” Reflects Escalating Rifts Between the Aggression States

Violent explosions rocked a camp affiliated with the Emirati-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia on Tuesday evening, in Al-Khash‘ah District, Wadi Hadramout, eastern Yemen—an incident that reflects the intensifying struggle for influence between the aggression states, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, in the eastern regions.

Local sources said the explosions were caused by airstrikes that targeted the camp. No party has officially claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

However, the timing raises suspicions regarding a potential Saudi role, particularly after similar strikes were carried out in recent days against STC positions, following the group’s advance into areas controlled by factions loyal to Riyadh.

This development comes amid escalating tensions between the aggression states, as Saudi Arabia demands the withdrawal of STC forces from territories they recently seized, while the Council continues to impose new realities on the ground with direct Emirati backing—a trajectory that threatens to turn Hadramout into an open arena of confrontation between rival allies.
