Supreme Political Council Strongly Condemns the Crime of Insulting the Qur’an, Reaffirms the Ummah’s Adherence to Its Identity and Sacred Values
The Supreme Political Council has strongly condemned, in the harshest terms, the disgraceful crime committed by one of the American candidates in insulting the Holy Qur’an—the eternal Book of God and the source of guidance and light for all humanity. The Council stressed that this crime is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a systematic, hostile campaign targeting Islam and the Muslim Ummah, within a global hegemonic project led by the United States and the Zionist entity, and advanced through their various media and cultural arms.
In its statement issued today, the Supreme Political Council affirmed that insulting the Holy Qur’an constitutes a blatant assault on the most sacred sanctities of Muslims and a provocation to the sentiments of more than two billion Muslims worldwide. It emphasized that such crimes are not sporadic, but part of an ongoing hostile approach aimed at distorting the identity of the Islamic Ummah and undermining the status of the Qur’an, in parallel with the aggression and grave violations inflicted upon the peoples of Palestine and the wider region.
The Council held the U.S. administration fully responsible—politically and morally—for allowing such provocative practices, stressing that insulting the Holy Qur’an will neither diminish its sanctity nor weaken the Ummah’s bond with its faith. On the contrary, such acts only deepen believers’ adherence to their religion and heighten their awareness of the hostile project targeting their sovereignty and dignity.
The Council further underscored that these crimes place the Islamic Ummah before a real test of steadfastness in defending its sanctities and confronting the cultural and religious intimidation exercised by arrogant powers. It called upon the great Yemeni people to respond to the call of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi (may God preserve him), through practical action—by organizing various events and activities and participating in the major mobilization next Friday—to express anger and rejection of these insults, reaffirm deep attachment to the Holy Qur’an, and work to protect the Ummah’s sacred values.
The Council concluded by affirming that the Ummah’s adherence to the Qur’an and its Islamic identity constitutes an impenetrable barrier against Western cultural and media domination projects, and that any attempt to undermine the religion or the Ummah’s values will fail to weaken Islamic awareness or quell the resolve of believers. It stressed that Yemen—both leadership and people—will always remain at the forefront in defending the faith and sacred values, and in confronting all attempts to distort or violate authentic Islamic principles.
