Hamas: Targeting a School Sheltering Displaced People in Gaza Is a Flagrant Breach of the Agreement

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) described the artillery shelling carried out by the fascist Zionist enemy “army” against a school sheltering displaced people in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City—which resulted in the killing of several civilians, most of them children—as a brutal crime committed against innocent civilians and a flagrant and renewed violation of the ceasefire agreement.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, Hamas said that the terrorist enemy government continues its violations of the ceasefire agreement through its deliberate and ongoing targeting of civilians in the Gaza Strip, noting that more than 400 martyrs have fallen since the agreement was announced over two months ago, amid a disturbing state of international helplessness and silence in the face of the crimes of this fascist government.

The movement affirmed that the enemy is not content with targeting civilians alone, but is further deepening the humanitarian catastrophe by preventing ambulances and medical teams from reaching targeted areas to treat the wounded, and by obstructing rescue operations—criminal conduct that amounts to a compound crime and constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.

Hamas renewed its call on the mediators guaranteeing the agreement and on the U.S. administration to assume their responsibilities regarding these violations, and to intervene immediately to curb attempts by the government of war criminal Netanyahu to impose equations that contradict the substance of the agreement and openly undermine it.

Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy—backed by the United States and Europe—has continued to commit genocide in the Gaza Strip, involving killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and detention, while ignoring international appeals and the orders of the International Court of Justice to halt these crimes.

This genocide has resulted in more than 241,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to over 11,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine that has claimed many lives—primarily children—alongside massive destruction that has erased most of Gaza’s cities and areas from the map.
