1.6 Million Palestinians Face Famine in Gaza; 1,200 Patients Die Due to the Blockade

Civil Defense teams on Tuesday began search and recovery operations for victims from the home of Ahmed Abu Jalalah in the Al-Amal neighborhood of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip.

In a related development, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that dire conditions persist across the Gaza Strip, stressing that humanitarian needs have become immense amid widespread destruction and acute food shortages.

The Integrated Food Security organization revealed that approximately 1.6 million people in Gaza are facing severe food insecurity, as the blockade continues and the entry of humanitarian aid remains restricted.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammed Abu Afsh, Director of Medical Relief in northern Gaza, warned of serious complications for patients with chronic illnesses due to the lack of medicines and Israel’s refusal to allow thousands of patients and wounded individuals to leave the Strip for treatment abroad.

Dr. Abu Afsh noted that 1,200 patients have died as a result of being denied treatment and prevented from traveling outside Gaza, according to the latest medical reports.

He added that 99% of orthopedic surgeries have been suspended due to the absence of essential medical supplies, putting patients’ lives at risk and exposing them to severe complications that could lead to permanent disabilities.

Humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip continue to deteriorate amid ongoing Israeli aggression, with an escalating and urgent need to open humanitarian crossings and allow the immediate entry of medical and food assistance.
