Khan Younis Municipality: Over 900,000 Displaced People Face Flooding

The Khan Younis Municipality in the southern Gaza Strip warned on Sunday of a worsening humanitarian crisis due to the third and most severe storm of the winter, which struck the governorate and flooded low-lying areas where more than 900,000 displaced people are concentrated in camps and shelters in the north and south.

The municipality spokesperson, Saeb al-Laqan, confirmed in a statement to the Palestinian news agency Shihab that the heavy rains and strong winds have turned into a real disaster, as the dilapidated tents, some of which have been in place for more than two years, are no longer able to withstand the flooding, and many were blown away by the recent storm.
