“Gaza Governmental Office”: 2025 Exceptional Year in Its Cruelty Towards Palestinians
The governmental media office in the Gaza Strip said on Thursday that 2025 is an exceptional year in its cruelty towards the Palestinian people, as more than 2.4 million people were subjected to systematic killing, ethnic cleansing, and forced starvation policies.
The office added in a statement reviewed by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) that the Israeli enemy turned the cities and towns of the Strip into rubble during 2025, destroyed infrastructure at an unprecedented rate, leveled residential neighborhoods to the ground, while more than two million people were forcibly displaced.
It indicated that the number of martyrs rose during 2025 to more than 71,000 martyrs who reached hospitals, in addition to more than 171,000 wounded and injured, as well as 9,500 missing under the rubble, under destroyed buildings, and under debris in full view and hearing of the international community and the silent unjust world.
The office explained that the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip enter 2026 burdened with deep wounds and accumulated pains left by one of the most heinous crimes of genocide in contemporary history, carried out by the Israeli enemy, which continued for two full years without stopping, with extensive continuous aggression, a suffocating blockade, systematic starvation, and comprehensive destruction of all life necessities.
It continued: “The world witnessed during the past year an almost complete collapse of the humanitarian system in the Gaza Strip, amid direct and deliberate targeting of hospitals and medical personnel, schools, universities, and teaching staff, mosques, places of worship, scholars, and preachers, shelter centers and displaced persons, ambulance and civil defense teams and humanitarian workers, press and journalists, and all segments of our Palestinian people.”
It pointed out that the Zionist enemy pursued systematic policies of starvation and preventing the entry of food, medicine, shelter, and fuel into the Gaza Strip, leading to the martyrdom of thousands of children, women, and the elderly, and threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands with hunger and disease.
“Gaza Governmental Office” affirmed that with the entry into 2026, the next phase must be a phase of stopping the aggression and ending the genocide, and a serious transition towards comprehensive humanitarian recovery, and beginning the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip on just and sustainable foundations, ensuring the dignity of the Palestinian human and their right to a safe and dignified life.
It emphasized the necessity of an immediate and permanent cessation of aggression and genocide, ending all forms of assault and blockade on the Palestinian people, withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, opening all crossings fully and permanently for humanitarian, relief, shelter, fuel, and medical aid, and allowing the return and travel of citizens without restrictions or conditions.
It also stressed the need to launch a genuine reconstruction path that includes rebuilding what the Israeli enemy destroyed of homes, infrastructure, health, educational, and service facilities, supporting the exhausted health sector and rescuing the medical system from complete collapse, and immediately, quickly, and fully restoring humanitarian sectors.
It pointed to the importance of securing the basic needs of displaced persons and ensuring their safe and dignified return to their areas from which the Zionist enemy forced them to leave by committing the crime of forced displacement, in addition to enabling relief institutions and humanitarian organizations to perform their tasks without obstacles, hindrances, disruption, or targeting.
The office demanded holding the Israeli enemy accountable for its crimes according to international law and ending the policy of impunity.
It called for 2026 to be a year to end suffering in the Gaza Strip, not perpetuate it, and a year to rebuild what the Zionist enemy destroyed, not to perpetuate the reality of the ongoing catastrophe.
It renewed the call to the leaders of the Arab and Islamic nation, the international community, the United Nations, and all humanitarian, human rights, and legal organizations, to shoulder their legal, moral, and historical responsibilities, and to take urgent and effective action to save what remains of life in the Gaza Strip and put an end to this ongoing crime committed by the Israeli enemy against the defenseless Palestinian people.
