The Leader: The Anniversary of the Martyr of the Qur’an Represents a مقام of Divine Victory and Embodies a Triumphant, Deeply Rooted Qur’anic Project

The Leader, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, affirmed that the anniversary of the Martyr of the Qur’an—may God be pleased with him—represents the مقام of victory granted by God Almighty. He noted that the Yemeni people have commemorated this anniversary widely, both officially and popularly, within the framework of a victorious, deeply rooted, and blessed Qur’anic project.

In a speech marking the annual anniversary of the Martyr of the Qur’an, the Leader explained that the profound commemoration of this occasion comes at one of the most critical and perilous stages globally and for the Islamic nation. He pointed out that our people live the anniversary of the Martyr of the Qur’an as a daily Qur’anic methodology that forges awareness, draws inspiration from Qur’anic knowledge, and illuminates insight—carried forward with broad popular momentum and a banner held high.

He noted that the Martyr of the Qur’an emerged during a phase of oppression and suffering, at a time when enemies were confident in their reliance on international backing to thwart the Qur’anic project. Yet they failed to achieve their objective by killing the Martyr of the Qur’an; instead, he triumphed by having his martyrdom linked to the most exalted and sacred project—thus truly becoming the Martyr of the Qur’an.

The Leader explained that the anniversary of the Martyr of the Qur’an entrenches a sacred and blessed cause, embodies the greatness of sacrifice, and recalls the injustice suffered by the Martyr of the Qur’an and his companions, as well as all convoys of martyrs in the blessed Qur’anic march—and the oppression endured by the striving nation.

He affirmed that the condition of regimes subservient to the United States and Israel, which stand against the Qur’anic project, is an extension of the condition of arrogant forces throughout history. He pointed out that oppressive practices—prisons, killings, destruction, wars, and misleading media campaigns—despite their vast resources, have failed to halt the Qur’anic project; rather, they have only increased its presence and momentum.

The Leader explained that the Qur’anic project today stands with greater strength than at any previous stage and represents one of the clearest manifestations of God’s promise to His patient, oppressed believing servants.

He noted that the anniversary of the Martyr of the Qur’an is an important station for emulating the defining traits of his personality, in which Qur’anic principles and values were embodied. He stressed that among the most critical imperatives at this stage is trust in God.

He pointed out that the Martyr of the Qur’an possessed profound trust in God Almighty—evident in his lessons and lectures—and that he emphasized this trust in diagnosing the nation’s condition. He explained that the crisis of trust in God was among the foremost challenges facing the nation, negatively affecting its stances and reality.

The Leader affirmed that the Martyr of the Qur’an acted without military backing, from the most extreme conditions of weakness, starting from zero—at a time when the nation faced the peak of the American, Israeli, and Western onslaught at the dawn of the third millennium.

He explained that the general condition of Arab regimes at that time was one of comprehensive defeat across much of the Arab and Islamic world. In the aftermath of the assault—under the banner of “counterterrorism”—these regimes rushed to court the United States through submission and obedience, under the pretext of alliance.

The Leader concluded by noting that this official posture was reflected in the popular reality of most societies, producing a state of general defeat, surrender, acquiescence, and an environment left wide open to the enemies.
