Iranian Defense Minister: The Space Battle Is Open, and Iran Will Relentlessly Strengthen Its Sovereign Capabilities

Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh affirmed that space has become one of the most important arenas of global geopolitical conflict, noting that major powers seek to impose their hegemony by possessing the tools of space superiority. This necessitates that independent nations act to protect their sovereignty and enhance their presence in this vital field.

Nassirzadeh explained that the Islamic Republic of Iran views space technologies as a fundamental element of its national security system. He pointed out that satellite development programs and sustainable space platforms are part of strengthening technological independence and preventing any attempts at political pressure or blackmail.

The Iranian Defense Minister stated that his country will continue to enhance its space capabilities through strategic projects, most notably the “Baia” satellite. He emphasized that these projects aim to build a national space infrastructure capable of meeting scientific and defense requirements and keeping pace with the rapid developments in this sector.

Nasirzadeh emphasized that the central objective of this approach is to avoid dependence on any external party, asserting that reliance on domestic capabilities constitutes the true guarantee for preserving sovereign decision-making and compensating for any gaps or delays imposed by past circumstances.

He indicated that Iran is determined to move forward firmly and steadily in the field of space technology, in line with its long-term strategic vision, and to enhance its ability to exert an active presence in regional and international equations related to this field.

He reiterated that possessing the tools of space power is an irreversible strategic choice, and is part of a comprehensive path aimed at consolidating Iran’s position as a scientific and technological power capable of defending its sovereignty and vital interests.
