Aden Welcomes Ramadan with a Severe Gas Crisis: Long Queues and Widespread Public Discontent

The occupied city of Aden is welcoming the holy month of Ramadan amidst a severe domestic gas shortage. Over the past few hours, the city’s streets and roads have been choked with long queues of citizens waiting at filling stations, a scene that reflects the extent of their ongoing suffering.

Various districts of Aden witnessed intense congestion, with hundreds of gas cylinders lined up in queues stretching from the early hours of dawn. Citizens were scrambling to secure their household needs before the start of the holy month, facing scarce supplies and erratic distribution.

A number of citizens expressed their outrage at the recurrence of these crises during religious seasons, describing the situation as “tragic” and absurd. In separate interviews, citizens said:

“Instead of preparing for the spirituality of Ramadan, we find ourselves spending our days in the streets searching for a gas cylinder, amidst a disturbing silence from the relevant authorities.”
