Hodeidah: 38 Prisoners Released for Ramadan
The Hodeidah Governorate Appeals Prosecution Office approved the release of 38 prisoners for the holy month of Ramadan, in accordance with directives from the Leader of the Revolution, the President of the Supreme Political Council, and the Attorney General.
The Head of the Appeals Prosecution Office, Judge Amin al-Qarni, explained that these decisions were made during his visit last Sunday, accompanied by Sheikh Ali Qarsha, representative of the Presidential Committee, and Judge Walid Suleiman, Deputy Prosecutor for Prisons, to the Central Prison. The purpose of the visit was to inspect the conditions of the prisoners, discuss their cases, and release those eligible.
He indicated that those released had served three-quarters of their sentences for serious offenses and half their sentences for less serious offenses. The remaining sentences were also waived for prisoners with no prior convictions who had demonstrated good conduct and provided the necessary guarantees.
Judge al-Qarni emphasized that the release of this group of prisoners reflects the humanitarian approach of the revolutionary, political, and judicial leadership, and embodies the values of solidarity and compassion, the meaning of which is reinforced during the holy month of Ramadan.
He stated that the Public Prosecution will continue to monitor prison conditions, work to expedite the handling of cases involving prisoners, and perform its assigned tasks with utmost care and responsibility, in order to protect society and safeguard rights and freedoms.
