Palestinian Prisoners’ Media: New Testimonies from Inside Janot Prison Reveal Hell of Prisons
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office confirmed today, Wednesday, that new testimonies have arrived from inside Nafha and Ramon (Janot) prisons, particularly from prisoners from Gaza, revealing the extent of their suffering under continued detention, the deterioration of their health and psychological conditions, and the ongoing policy of starvation.
In a statement received , the office explained that the prisoners’ testimonies revealed extremely alarming health conditions for a number of sick prisoners. Some suffer from contagious skin diseases, fungal infections, chronic stomach pain, cartilage problems, hearing and vision impairment, as well as toothaches and hemorrhoids, without receiving the necessary treatment or adequate medical follow-up amidst medical neglect. Prisoner testimonies also indicated a sharp decline in the weight of many, with some losing tens of kilograms since their arrest. This reflects the extent of malnutrition within the prisons and the ongoing policy of medical neglect.

On the social front, the office reported that the longing for family and the separation from children and wives constitute the greatest burden for the prisoners, especially with the continued denial of direct contact.
Despite this, the prisoners affirm their adherence to patience and faith. They are keen to invest their time in worship, reading and memorizing the Holy Quran, as well as learning languages and exchanging knowledge within their cells, in an attempt to strengthen their resilience and confront the harshness of their situation.
