Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office condemns raid by criminal Itamar Ben-Gvir on Ofer Prison, suppression & humiliation of detainees

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office condemned, on Saturday, the raid carried out by the extremist Zionist war criminal Itamar Ben‑Gvir on Ofer Prison just days before the holy month of Ramadan, along with the accompanying repressive measures and humiliating practices against the prisoners.

In a statement reviewed by Saba, the office said: “We consider this step a dangerous escalation and a retaliatory message targeting the dignity , morale of the prisoners, it reflects the continued approach of repression and criminality inside Israeli occupation prisons.”

It added that “this raid comes in the context of accelerated attempts to pass what is known as the ‘execution of prisoners law’ in its second and third readings, in a serious effort to entrench more extreme policies against prisoners and place their lives in real danger, amid the absence of any international accountability or deterrence to stop these ongoing violations.”

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office called for “a unified Palestinian national stance , urgent media, diplomatic, human rights action at the Arab and international levels to save the prisoners from the crimes of the occupiers.”

It also urged “the intensification of solidarity and support campaigns for the prisoners, based on the Geneva Conventions, international humanitarian law, and anti-torture agreements, to pressure the Israeli occupation to halt policies that violate their fundamental rights and contradict humanitarian standards.”
