Sa’dah: 358 Prisoners Released for Ramadan

The Public Prosecution in Sa’dah Governorate released 358 prisoners on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The head of the Governorate’s Appeals Prosecution, Judge Ibrahim Jahiz, explained that the release came in response to directives from the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and in implementation of instructions from the Attorney General and recommendations from the representative of the Leader of the Revolution’s office, Sheikh Ali Nasser Qarsha, regarding pardoning prisoners eligible for parole with the necessary guarantees.

He indicated that the release procedures were carried out during inspections of the Central Prison, pretrial detention centers, and holding facilities to review cases eligible for release, including those who had served three-quarters of their sentences, those released on bail, those released in compliance with court rulings, and those whose continued detention lacked legal justification.

Judge Jahiz stated that 159 prisoners were released from pretrial detention, 60 from the Central Prison, while the remaining prisoners were released from detention facilities in the districts and police stations during field visits conducted during the month of Sha’ban.

He commended the efforts of the Prisons Issues Committee, represented by Sheikh Ali Qarsha, and the head of the Grievances Authority branch in Sa’dah Governorate, Judge Abdullah Al-Ghalibi, in following up on prisoners’ cases and resolving disputes. He also noted the efforts of the primary prosecution prosecutors in conducting field visits and reviewing prisoners’ files.

The head of the Sa’dah Appeals Prosecution affirmed that the Public Prosecution is continuing to review prisoner lists and conduct field visits to release those eligible according to Sharia and the law.
