Gaza Under the Rubble and the Truce: A Ramadan Without Security!
As Ramadan approaches, the Gaza Strip is not experiencing the joy of the holy month, but rather a painful reality shaped by a suffocating siege, daily ceasefire violations, and occupation practices targeting every aspect of life.
From Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem to the refugee camps in Gaza, the daily tragedy of the Palestinians is reflected in numbers, statistics, and human stories, while attempts to provide relief and shelter remain extremely limited under strict restrictions and constant threats.
Preparations for Al-Aqsa Prevented
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the Israeli authorities are preventing the Islamic Waqf Department from preparing Al-Aqsa Mosque to receive worshippers during Ramadan, including installing canopies and setting up field clinics.
The Israeli entity has also expelled more than 25 employees and arrested four, in an attempt to weaken the Waqf’s ability to manage the mosque’s affairs. Meanwhile, the Temple Mount movement continues to extend the hours of its morning incursions, as part of a policy of imposing unilateral realities on the holy sites.
Field Escalation
The Zionist enemy continues to violate the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, resulting in the martyrdom of 13 Palestinians and the injury of others in the Jabalia, Shuja’iyya, and Beit Lahia refugee camps, in addition to targeting the leader Sami al-Dahdouh.
The total number of martyrs since the ceasefire on October 11, 2025, has reached 603, with 1,618 injuries. The cumulative toll since the beginning of the aggression on October 7, 2023, has reached 72,063 martyrs and 171,726 injuries.
Tents Offer No Protection and Supplies Are Restricted
The Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr. Munir al-Barsh, revealed that the shelter tents do not provide protection for civilians, as more than 600 people have been martyred since the ceasefire, 60% of whom are children and women.
Doctors Without Borders also indicated that it has been unable to deliver any aid since the beginning of the year, while thousands of medical cases await urgent evacuation, including 4,000 children, amidst the worsening of infectious diseases and harsh winter conditions. UNRWA also confirmed that winter storms and dust storms continue to batter the tents of displaced people, exacerbating the already dire housing situation and further compounding the suffering of Palestinian families.
Daily Injuries and Suffering
Omar Abu Ali lost both legs after being directly hit by enemy fire in the Shati refugee camp. His brother was killed, and other family members were injured. Omar now faces significant mobility challenges and requires prosthetic limbs, a stark example of the ongoing suffering of the wounded in Gaza.
Killing Children and Targeting Resistance Fighters
The Palestinian Resistance Committees condemned the killing of two children, Yazan and Shifa Samara, by Palestinian Authority security forces while they were pursuing their father. The Committees considered the killing a direct consequence of the criminal policies in the West Bank and called for holding those responsible accountable and immediately halting the persecution of political resistance fighters.
Gaza’s resilience amid bombardment and siege
Gaza welcomes Ramadan under a continuing siege, daily violations of the truce, and violations of civilians’ rights, with limited humanitarian resources. Despite this, the Palestinians continue their daily resilience, in a scene that highlights the extent of human suffering and their determination to preserve their lives and rights in the face of aggression.
