UNRWA: Winter storms continue to batter displaced people’s tents in Gaza, exacerbating their suffering

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed on Monday that winter storms and dust storms continue to batter the Gaza Strip, battering the tents sheltering displaced people.

In a post on its X platform, the agency stated that families already displaced are still facing wind, dust, and rain with little protection.

It added: “Safe shelter, along with other basic needs, remains out of reach.”

With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has committed genocide, siege, and starvation in the Gaza Strip for over two consecutive years since October 7, 2023. This has resulted in the deaths of 72,063 Palestinian civilians, the majority of whom are children and women, and injuries to 171,726 others to date—a toll that is not yet final, as thousands of victims remain buried under rubble and in the streets, inaccessible to rescue and ambulance crews.

A ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10, 2020, following a two-year-long Zionist war of genocide. However, the Israeli enemy army continues to violate the agreement daily and persists in preventing the entry of most humanitarian aid into the Strip, particularly aid provided by UNRWA.
