The Fourth Ramadan Lecture by Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, 4 Ramadan 1447 AH / 21 February 2026 CE

I seek refuge in God from the accursed Satan.

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

All praise is due to God, Lord of the Worlds. I bear witness that there is no god but God, the King, the Truth, the Manifest. And I bear witness that our master Muhammad is His servant and messenger, the Seal of the Prophets.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and bestow Your grace upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings and bestowed Your grace upon Abraham and the family of Abraham. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. And, O Allah, be pleased with his chosen and virtuous companions, and with all Your righteous and striving servants.

O Allah, be pleased with Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and with all Your righteous and striving servants. O Allah, guide us and accept our deeds, for You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. Accept our repentance, for You are the Oft-Returning, the Most Merciful.

O brothers and sisters:

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.

In the blessed verses of Surah Al-Qasas, in the story of the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him), we reached the point in the previous lecture where we discussed, in light of God’s words (may He be glorified and exalted): {And We established them in the land and showed Pharaoh, Haman, and their soldiers from them that which they had feared} [Al-Qasas: 6]. This was within the framework of the explanation that God (may He be glorified and exalted) clarified in the Holy Quran regarding His will, stemming from His mercy, might, and wisdom, to rescue the oppressed, and how He rescues them. Then there is this important lesson, which is one of the most important lessons of history, and historical facts and events in the story of the Children of Israel in the time of Pharaoh: God’s will (may He be glorified and exalted) to rescue them from The tyranny of Pharaoh and Haman, and how they were given power in the land after having been in a state of extreme weakness, humiliation, and oppression.

We discussed this blessed verse and its implications in the previous lecture, and we will continue our discussion.

God Almighty says: {And We showed Pharaoh, Haman, and their soldiers what they had feared from them} [Al-Qasas: 6]. We discussed a policy adopted by tyrants and criminals in their calculations regarding perceived dangers, in what they expected from a specific segment of society, and how they practice the most heinous forms of injustice and crime based on these fears. They even have calculations regarding the future, calculations based on:

News, historical accounts, or visions.

Or the pronouncements of astrologers, as in the past they relied on the pronouncements of astrologers, soothsayers, and the like.

Or fears, based on extrapolating certain universal laws from God’s established order.

Or intelligence assessments, based on the information they obtain and their evaluation of it.

Or, for example, in our time, what research centers and think tanks provide.

Or through predictions… and the like.

Consequently, they take precautionary measures based on injustice, tyranny, and criminality, aiming to bring the oppressed to a state where it is impossible for them to move to escape their oppression, injustice, persecution, humiliation, subjugation, and complete control, and where their revival is impossible. These measures, which they consider precautionary, guarantee their permanent control, or even lead those oppressed people to annihilation. They are unjust measures, and this was the case in the policies of Pharaoh and Haman, and with Pharaoh and Haman were their soldiers who acted according to their orders.

But despite all the unjust and oppressive measures they took, including the slaughter of all male children—a truly horrific act of brutality and atrocious crime—and all the other forms of suffering they inflicted upon the Israelites, subjecting them to every kind of persecution, forcing them into arduous labor with extreme cruelty, sometimes leading to death, and compelling them to degrading jobs—all the forms of oppression that existed at that time—God’s plan, may He be glorified and exalted, came to pass. Despite all those precautionary measures, including the slaughter of male children, God’s wondrous plan came to dismantle all the obstacles and barriers they had erected.

Thus, we see how the will of God, may He be glorified and exalted, is effective in bringing about changes in the lives of humankind. Because humankind, and this earth and all that is in it, are part of God’s vast kingdom, subject to His management. He is the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining, and He has not abandoned His servants. This is what tyrants and the arrogant forget. They imagine that when they reach an advanced stage of military power, economic resources, and control over a situation, they can do whatever they please, that their will is inevitable, that there is no escaping what they plan, and that success is their ally in everything they desire. Many of the oppressed, who despair when they find the situation extremely difficult, think the same. They look at the immense resources, entrenched control, and military, economic, intelligence, and security capabilities possessed by tyrants, criminals, and despots. Some actually reach a state of despair regarding the possibility of change, as if there were no one with the right to intervene and alter this reality, no one who holds the power to command and prohibit—the King. The Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the worlds, who does not want His servants to be wronged, is the One who says, “Glory be to Him, the Exalted”: {And Allah does not intend injustice to His servants} [Ghafir: 31], {And Allah does not intend injustice to the worlds} [Al Imran: 108]. He provides guidance, and with His guidance comes planning, a planning from Him, “Glory be to Him, the Exalted,” that initially repels injustice from people. Then, after that, they may not respond or turn to Him.
