Fadlallah: The partnership between Hezbollah and the Amal Movement is steadfast and unassailable.
Member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc in Lebanon, MP Hassan Fadlallah, stressed the necessity of holding parliamentary elections on schedule without any postponement, denouncing the external pressure being exerted to delay the elections as “an attempt to exploit the results of the Israeli aggression against our country.”
Speaking at a memorial service for the wounded martyr Ali Muhammad Bazzi in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Fadlallah said, “There is an attempt to impose an extension on Lebanon through the intervention of foreign countries that have begun lobbying officials to extend the current parliament’s term for external reasons unrelated to our national interests. They believe that our political base will weaken further after a year, that the reconstruction process will be delayed, and that there is a possibility of an American war on Iran.” He added, “Those who claim to uphold sovereignty are the most eager to comply with foreign intervention to extend the parliamentary term.”
Fadlallah believes that “the pressure being exerted today is an attempt to exploit the results of the Israeli aggression against our country. After everything that has happened, they see that our environment is resilient, that the unity and cohesion between Hezbollah and the Amal Movement is strong, and that the internal balance of power has not been significantly affected to the extent they seek to achieve, especially since no one in Lebanon can undermine our internal partnership.” He pointed out that “some believe that after a year they can bring about a parliament that breaks the exclusive representation of the Shiite duo in Lebanon. They believe that holding the elections on schedule will not break this representation, and this is what prevents them from changing the internal balance of power for four years. Consequently, this partnership will remain strong at the level of internal authority.”
Regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression, Fadlallah stated, “This is a time for endurance, patience, preparedness, and readiness, and for keeping the Lebanese state accountable.” He added, “Faced with these attacks, we want the current government and the state, with all its institutions, to assume full responsibility for these Israeli aggressions. We will continue to monitor, demand, and urge the state to fulfill its responsibilities and duties toward its people.”
Commenting on the Iranian issue, Fadlallah noted, “The drums of American war are beating in the region against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The American president thinks he rules the world or controls it, but when there is courageous, wise, and bold leadership, and when there is a steadfast and resilient people, all plans and conspiracies will be thwarted.”
