The Leader’s Seventh Ramadan Lecture: The Story of Prophet Moses: Lessons in Divine Providence and Steadfast Faith

As part of the Ramadan lectures delivered by the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, during the blessed month of Ramadan, the Leader addressed the story of Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) as narrated in the Holy Quran, specifically in Surah al-Qasas. He highlighted the manifestations of divine providence in protecting the vulnerable, creating the means of salvation, and strengthening steadfast faith amidst the most perilous circumstances.

Faithful Trials and Trust in God’s Promise

The Leader explained that the Holy Quran presents Quranic stories as a practical guide, revealing God’s laws in managing and directing events to achieve victory for His believing servants, even in moments when dangers seem at their peak.

He pointed to the experience of Moses’ mother (peace be upon him) after obeying God’s command to cast her infant into the river, explaining that this act represents a model of faithful obedience based on absolute trust in God’s promise, despite the immense psychological and human hardship it imposed on the mother’s heart. The Leader stated that Moses’ mother, after the ark disappeared from her sight, entered a state of intense anxiety and psychological distress, which the Quran describes as: {And the heart of Moses’ mother became empty}, due to her ignorance of the details of her child’s fate, despite her certainty in God’s promise to protect him and return him to her.

Divine Care and Strengthening of Hearts
The Leader emphasized that divine intervention manifested itself in the greatest form of care when God Almighty strengthened the heart of Moses’ mother, preventing her psychological collapse or the divulging of the secret upon which the success of the divine plan depended.

He pointed out that strengthening of hearts represents one of the most important aspects of divine care for believers during times of hardship, as it grants them steadfastness, tranquility, and the ability to continue fulfilling their responsibilities despite psychological pressures, fear, and dangers.

The Importance of Secrecy and Proper Performance in Tasks
The Leader drew attention to the fact that the Quranic story offers a crucial lesson in the necessity of maintaining secrecy in critical tasks and missions, explaining that revealing secrets at sensitive stages can lead to the failure of plans and empower enemies.

He also pointed out that a troubled psychological state can jeopardize the success of the endeavor, necessitating turning to God and seeking His help to control emotions and act with wisdom and responsibility.

The Role of Women in Implementing Divine Providence
The Leader discussed the pivotal roles played by women in the journey of Moses’s salvation, beginning with Moses’ mother and Pharaoh’s wife, and culminating with Moses’ sister, who was tasked with tracking him.

He explained that Moses’ sister carried out her mission with great awareness and caution, following her brother discreetly, as described in the Holy Quran: {So she watched him from afar while they were unaware}, a model reflecting wise and successful action in perilous circumstances.

The Prohibition of Wet Nurses and Moses’ Return to His Mother
The Leader explained that divine providence reached its culmination when God prohibited Moses from nursing from any woman, refusing to nurse from any woman. This plunged Pharaoh’s family into a genuine crisis, fearing for his life.

At the opportune moment, his sister intervened, suggesting a family to care for him. His mother returned to him, nursing and nurturing him under the protection of the palace itself, thus fulfilling God’s promise: {So We restored him to his mother so that her eyes might be comforted and she would not grieve, and so that she would know that the promise of God is true.}

The Leader emphasized that this scene illustrates how God transforms dangers into opportunities for salvation when the believer acts according to God’s guidance and with sincere trust in His promise.

Steadfast Faith: The Path to Tranquility and Salvation
The Leader concluded his lecture by affirming that the story of Moses (peace be upon him) serves as a practical lesson for the nation in trusting in God and persevering through hardships. He explained that divine care and providence accompany believers when they fulfill their responsibilities with faith and reliance on God, and that God’s promise is fulfilled no matter how adverse or perilous the circumstances may seem.
