Prominent Iranian Military Leaders Killed in the Aggression

Iranian television announced this morning, Sunday, the martyrdom of the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, and the Iranian Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, as a result of yesterday’s US-Israeli aggression against the country.

The television also announced the martyrdom of the Secretary of the Supreme National Defense Council, Admiral Ali Shamkhani, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad Pakpour.

Ali Shamkhani assumed the duties of Secretary of the Supreme National Defense Council on February 5, 2016, after being appointed by the President of the Islamic Republic.

On June 13, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi was appointed Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, succeeding the martyred Major General Mohammad Bagheri. This is the highest military position in the country in terms of rank and responsibility.

Major General Mohammad Pakpour was also appointed at that time as Commander of the IRGC, succeeding the martyred Commander Hossein Salami.

At dawn, Iranian television announced the martyrdom of the leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Ali Khamenei, at his workplace in the “Leadership House,” after the United States and the Israeli occupation launched an aggression against Iran on Saturday morning, targeting several provinces in the country.
