Gaza and the West Bank: Between Aggression and Siege – An Ongoing Tragedy
Palestine is currently witnessing a worsening humanitarian crisis, from the besieged Gaza Strip to the occupied West Bank, as a result of the ongoing escalation by the Zionist enemy, which combines direct bombardment, military campaigns, and a suffocating siege. Thousands of civilians are living under a near-total lack of basic services and the destruction of vital infrastructure, while violations against civilians and holy sites continue systematically, creating a collective tragedy that threatens the resilience of the Palestinian people and reveals the severity of the humanitarian situation in the region.
Ongoing Violations
The past week witnessed a violent escalation, resulting in the martyrdom of more than 20 civilians and injuries to hundreds more due to direct bombardment and raids in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Civilian homes and property were destroyed, agricultural lands were confiscated, and the enemy closed main roads, disrupting daily life and hindering movement between cities and villages.
In Jerusalem, violations against Islamic holy sites have intensified, with thousands of worshippers being prevented from accessing Al-Aqsa Mosque, while settlers were permitted to perform their rituals within its courtyards. This constitutes a blatant violation of freedom of worship and an attempt to alter the city’s historical status quo, reflecting the severity of the aggression against Palestinian society and its fundamental rights.
Gaza Under Siege
More than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip live under a suffocating siege, with the near-total destruction of economic, agricultural, health, and water infrastructure. Most hospitals are unable to provide basic services due to shortages of medicine and equipment, while the suffering of the population is exacerbated by dust storms and sandstorms that have transformed tents and shelters into overcrowded spaces lacking even the most basic safety and hygiene.
The director of the water file in Khan Younis warned that more than 400,000 Palestinians are deprived of drinking water, compounding the suffering of displaced persons, the sick, and the elderly, and further exacerbating the already dire health and humanitarian situation in the Strip.
The International Community’s Inaction
Despite repeated warnings from human rights organizations, the international community remains incapable of pressuring the enemy to halt its ongoing violations. The continued siege and targeting of civilians and infrastructure reflect a blatant international disregard, while the daily suffering of the population is exacerbated by the bombardment, the denial of basic services, and attempts to Judaize Jerusalem. This intensifies the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the West Bank and threatens the lives of innocent civilians.
Palestinian Calls for Unity
Palestinian factions and resistance leaders affirmed that International Quds Day represents a call to unify efforts in support of Jerusalem and Palestine, and to bolster the resilience of civilians against Zionist aggression. They urged the protection of holy sites, exerting pressure on the enemy to stop the violations, and providing support to the Palestinian people in the face of the siege and aggression.
They emphasized the necessity of Arab and Islamic unity to confront the Zionist project and protect the rights of Palestinians, affirming that Jerusalem will remain the compass guiding the nation’s positions and will regarding the Palestinian cause until complete liberation.
Aggression Will Not Break the Will
Palestine, from Gaza to the West Bank and Jerusalem, remains a land of ongoing suffering, where its people live under a barrage of bombardment, siege, and daily aggression. International Quds Day serves as a reminder that supporting the Palestinians and protecting their holy sites and rights is a humanitarian and moral duty, and that unity and resistance are the path to confronting the Zionist entity and achieving justice.
The Palestinian people are steadfast, their will and resilience a testament to the fact that aggression will not deter them from their right to freedom and independence, and that Jerusalem will remain the heart of the cause and the key to the nation’s ultimate victory.
