March 28th: ​​An Unforgettable Day and Crimes That Will Not Be Forgotten in the Record of Aggression Against Yemen

Every year on March 28th, a new chapter unfolds in the record of crimes committed by the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression against Yemen. The same scenario repeats itself: intense airstrikes, missile and artillery shelling, and the systematic targeting of civilians and infrastructure. This day reflects not merely military operations, but a comprehensive strategy aimed at destroying the foundations of life, from bridges and roads to homes and farms, in flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian laws.

2016: Destruction of Bridges and Targeting of Cities and Infrastructure

On March 28, 2016, the aggression’s warplanes targeted the Al-Shatab Bridge in Wadi Habab, Sarwah District, Marib Governorate, completely destroying it and damaging a nearby water barrier. This act reflects the deliberate targeting of vital infrastructure.

The airstrikes extended to the areas of Helan, Dhawar, and Al-Mashjah, and the Nihm district in Sana’a, and Al-Matun in Al-Jawf. Taiz witnessed intense shelling that targeted the northwestern neighborhoods, 50th Street, Jabal Al-Han, Al-Rabeei farms, and the vicinity of the central prison, leaving widespread destruction of homes and property.

The airstrikes also targeted Bajil district in Hodeidah, Aqaba Mablaga between Al-Bayda and Shabwa, and Haradh district in Hajjah.

2017: Cluster Bombs and Border Shelling
On March 28, 2017, the aggression escalated its crimes by using cluster bombs to target Al-Malahit area in Al-Dhaher district of Saada, in addition to airstrikes on Al-Buqa in Kataf.

The Munabbih area was subjected to Saudi missile and artillery shelling that targeted roads and civilian homes, while airstrikes extended to Taiz by targeting Dhubab and Al-Mukha, and to Hajjah with five airstrikes on Haradh.

2018: Unprecedented Escalation and Dozens of Airstrikes

On March 28, 2018, the Saudi-led coalition launched airstrikes on civilian farms in Sarwah, Ma’rib, coinciding with artillery shelling by mercenaries.

In Sa’dah, the bombing intensified to an unprecedented degree, with coalition aircraft launching dozens of airstrikes on Munabbih, Baqim, and As-Safra, targeting main roads, including the Sa’dah-Sana’a highway, in addition to Saudi missile strikes on the border town of Shada.

The airstrikes extended to Al-Jawf, Lahj, and Al-Hudaydah, in addition to 14 airstrikes on Haradh and Midi in Hajjah, reflecting the widening scope of the aggression.

2019: Intense Bombardment and Siege of Coastal Cities

On March 28, 2019, two children were injured by Saudi missile strikes in Razih, Sa’dah, while Baqim was subjected to intense bombardment that targeted civilian property, coinciding with airstrikes on Kataf and civilian homes in Sarwah.

In Hodeidah, mercenaries escalated their artillery bombardment of the city, targeting residential neighborhoods and besieging the city of Al-Durayhimi. They also shelled the villages of Al-Tuhayta, Al-Zafran, and Al-Jah with dozens of shells, in a scene reflecting a policy of simultaneous siege and bombardment.

2020: Intense Airstrikes and Targeting of Residential Areas
On March 28, 2020, the aggression’s warplanes launched airstrikes on Bani Hashish and Nihm in Sana’a, 13 airstrikes on Khabb and Al-Sha’af in Al-Jawf, and a similar number on Haradh in Hajjah.

In Hodeidah, residential neighborhoods were subjected to intense shelling with missiles and heavy machine guns, including 50th Street, Youth City, and Sana’a Street, in addition to the villages of Al-Durayhimi and Hays, in a direct targeting of civilians.

The airstrikes also targeted Sa’dah and Jizan, as part of a comprehensive escalation.

2021: Simultaneous Airstrikes and Reconnaissance Operations

On March 28, 2021, the Saudi-led coalition launched 28 airstrikes on Sarwah and Madghal in Ma’rib, targeting civilian homes and farms, in addition to airstrikes on Hodeidah.

Reconnaissance aircraft dropped ten missiles on various areas in Hodeidah, including Ad Durayhimi, Al Faza, and Hodeidah Airport, in a multi-pronged escalation.

2022: Border Shelling and Escalation with Missiles and Artillery

On March 28, 2022, a civilian was killed in Sa’dah by a Saudi missile strike on Haydan District, and others were wounded in Shada and Munabbih.

Hodeidah witnessed missile and artillery shelling, while mercenaries targeted Haradh in Hajjah with Katyusha rockets and shelled areas in Ma’rib. The attacks extended to border areas opposite Najran.

2023: The Remnants of Aggression Continue to Claim Lives

On March 28, 2023, two civilians were killed by an explosion of unexploded ordnance in the Al-Durayhimi district of Hodeidah Governorate, demonstrating the continued impact of the war even beyond the period of airstrikes.

2024: Drones and the Targeting of Civilians

On March 28, 2024, five civilians, including a child, were injured by a missile fired from a drone belonging to the aggression’s mercenaries in the Maqbana district of Taiz Governorate, continuing the pattern of targeting civilians with modern weapons.

Systematic Destruction and a Long-Lasting Memory
