Abu Ubaida: Resistance Heroes in Lebanon Inflict Heavy Losses on the Enemy
Abu Ubaida, the spokesman for the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, called on the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon to intensify its efforts to capture Zionist soldiers in order to liberate Palestinian and Arab prisoners from the depths of the Zionist enemy’s prisons, especially after the passage of the law authorizing the execution of prisoners.
In a statement posted on his Telegram account on Tuesday, Abu Ubaida said: “Blessed be the arms of the heroes of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, who are inflicting heavy losses on the Zionist enemy, the latest of which was during yesterday’s successful operation. We call on them to intensify their efforts to capture Zionist soldiers in order to liberate Palestinian and Arab prisoners from the depths of the enemy entity’s prisons, especially after the passage of the law authorizing the execution of prisoners.”
He pointed out that the struggle of our people against the Zionists has proven that the shortest path to liberating prisoners is through resistance, noting that Gaza has sacrificed much in this cause.
He urged Hezbollah fighters to complete their mission, saying, “We are certain that God will not abandon our free prisoners and will grant them relief and a way out of their predicament.”
He emphasized that this Zionist arrogance, the latest manifestation of which was the passage of the law to execute prisoners, the crime of closing Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the aggression against our Arab and Muslim peoples, obligates all components of our nation and the free people of the world to exert every possible effort to punish the occupation for its crimes, or at least to pressure it to cease its transgressions—the very least that can be done.
Yesterday, Monday, the Knesset approved a controversial bill imposing the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners. The bill stipulates that the death penalty be carried out by hanging by guards appointed by the Israeli Prison Service, with the perpetrators granted anonymity and legal immunity.
The bill allows for the issuance of death sentences without a request from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the decision does not require unanimity; it can be passed by a simple majority.
This also includes military courts that try Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, with the defense minister having the right to express his opinion before the court.
More than 9,500 Palestinians, including 350 children and 73 women, are currently imprisoned in Israeli jails. According to Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations, they suffer torture, starvation, and medical neglect, which has led to the deaths of dozens.
