Fadlallah: Direct Negotiations with the Enemy a Serious Constitutional Violation and Threaten Lebanon’s Unity

Hassan Fadlallah, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc in the Lebanese parliament, declared that the decision to negotiate directly with the Zionist enemy constitutes a “blatant violation of the constitution,” warning of its repercussions on the Lebanese domestic scene.

Fadlallah added that this approach exacerbates internal divisions at a time when Lebanon needs solidarity and unity.

For his part, MP Hassan Fadlallah affirmed that what the enemy failed to achieve on the battlefield “due to the bravery of the resistance fighters, it will not achieve through negotiations,” considering that the current authority “does not control its own decisions.”

He emphasized that this authority “cannot be entrusted with protecting national sovereignty,” and its decisions, which contradict coexistence, lack constitutional legitimacy.

In the same context, MP Ihab Hamadeh, also from the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, told Al-Mayadeen that the enemy is committing massacres in an attempt to compensate for its defeats on the battlefield.

Hamadeh asserted that “the Lebanese authorities are handing us over to the Israelis,” adding that “whoever sits with the Israelis is on their side.”

He pointed out that the current phase is different, given the “new world order,” criticizing the performance of the Lebanese authorities, who he said are “misinterpreting the situation.”

A senior Lebanese official told Reuters yesterday that Lebanon intends to participate in a meeting to be held next week in Washington, with representatives from the United States and Israel, to discuss a ceasefire declaration.

The past two days witnessed protests in front of the Grand Serail (the government headquarters) in Beirut, rejecting the government’s approach of disarming the resistance in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression, which has not ceased despite the ceasefire agreement at the end of 2014 and Lebanon’s agreement to direct negotiations with Israel, which continues to occupy Lebanese territory.

In a related matter, the Israeli enemy continues to perpetrate massacres against innocent civilians in various parts of Lebanon, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds, constituting a full-fledged war crime and a clear violation of international law.
