Geological Survey Authority: Any Agreements with Mercenaries Regarding Yemen’s Resources Are Absolutely Invalid

The Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority in Sana’a affirmed its categorical rejection of any understandings or agreements concluded with the so-called Geological Survey Authority affiliated with the mercenary government in Aden. It deemed such actions null and void, illegal, and invalid, as they are issued by entities impersonating authorities and possessing no legitimacy to dispose of the country’s resources.

In an official statement, the Authority clarified that it had followed the Saudi Cabinet’s authorization of the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources to discuss with the other party a draft memorandum of understanding for technical and scientific cooperation in the geological field, with a view to signing it. The Authority emphasized that any such course of action constitutes a blatant violation of Yemeni sovereignty and an infringement upon the exclusive jurisdictions of national institutions in Sana’a.

The statement emphasized that the Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority in Sana’a is the official and legally authorized body to manage the minerals sector in Yemen, including concluding agreements and protocols with regional and international entities, based on its national responsibility to protect sovereign resources and preserve the assets of the Yemeni people.

The Authority added that its position stems from its commitment to the supreme interest of the country and to safeguarding state institutions from attempts at circumvention and marginalization. It affirmed its absolute rejection of any measures that contradict its sovereign right to manage natural resources and determine their investment in a way that serves the Yemeni people.

The Authority also announced the suspension of all planned procedures with those claiming sovereignty and the “hotel governments,” stressing the freezing of any actions in this direction and urging all relevant national bodies to take deterrent measures to stop these transgressions.

The Authority concluded its statement by emphasizing the necessity of confronting attempts by ambitious powers to impose their dictates on national decision-making and working to limit regional and international interference in Yemeni affairs, in order to preserve the country’s sovereignty and protect its resources from manipulation and exploitation.
