Iran Denies Issuing Official Statement on Trump’s Claim Regarding the Ceasefire
Iranian state television confirmed on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic has not issued any official statement regarding US President Donald Trump’s claim about extending the ceasefire, emphasizing that statements attributed to Iranian officials are false.
It clarified that Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei has not made any statement on the matter, and that Iran is still studying various aspects related to the ceasefire.
In this context, Iranian Presidential Advisor for Public Relations Mehdi Tabatabaei considered talk of internal disagreements among senior officials to be “merely a worn-out media tactic,” stressing that the harmony between the military, diplomacy, and the people at this stage represents a unique model of national unity.
He added that the door to negotiations based on fairness, dignity, and rationality remains open, calling on hostile parties to cease breaking promises and fabricating lies.
These stances come after Trump announced on Tuesday an extension of the ceasefire “until the Iranians present their proposal and the discussions conclude.” Meanwhile, the Tasnim news agency quoted official sources as saying that Tehran informed the Pakistani mediator that it would not be sending its delegation to Islamabad today, confirming the absence of any current prospects for participation in negotiations.
In contrast, Pakistan continues its diplomatic efforts, with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressing his hope that these endeavors will lead to a comprehensive peace agreement that permanently ends the war. Iran, for its part, emphasized that its armed forces are on high alert to defend its territory in the event of a repeat of the American-Israeli aggression, asserting that the deterrence equation remains in place and that any violation will be met with a proportionate response.
