In the spirit of the September 21 Revolution, a tribal reconciliation ends a decade-long murder case in Hajjah.
In a practical application of the September 21 Revolution’s approach to promoting tolerance and reconciliation, Hajjah Governorate witnessed the success of tribal and social efforts in resolving one of the longest-running criminal cases, which had lasted for nearly ten years. This step reflects the effectiveness of community initiatives in containing conflicts.
A Decade of Conflict Ends
This tribal reconciliation took place in the governorate’s capital, bringing to a close a murder case between the Al Sheikh family of Qafil Shamar and the Al Qadami family of Qadam. The reconciliation was overseen by Interior Minister Major General Abdulkarim al-Houthi and attended by a large official and social gathering.
During the reconciliation ceremony, the family of the victim, Hamid Radman al-Qadami, announced their forgiveness of the perpetrator, Abdu Shua’i al-Sheikh, for the sake of God Almighty, in a gesture embodying the highest ideals of tolerance and prioritizing the common good.
Integrated Efforts
This achievement is the fruit of continuous efforts led by the governorate’s security director, Brigadier General Hassan al-Qasimi, with the participation of official leaders and social figures, including Member of Parliament Dr. Ahmed Nassar and Deputy Governor Zaid al-Hakim, along with a number of sheikhs and dignitaries.
Participants praised the stance of the victim’s family, emphasizing that this step reflects the authentic values of Yemeni society and strengthens the culture of reconciliation and tolerance.
Promoting Social Peace
In this context, the governorate’s security director affirmed that resolving the case represents a successful model for embodying the principles of coexistence and tolerance, and contributes directly to consolidating social peace and strengthening internal cohesion. He pointed out that such initiatives reflect the leadership’s commitment to addressing societal issues in responsible ways that contribute to enhancing stability.

For their part, the sheikhs and dignitaries of Qafil Shamar and the perpetrator’s family expressed their appreciation for the efforts made to resolve the case, emphasizing the importance of resorting to positive customs and traditions in settling disputes. They also commended the stance of the Al-Qadami family, which exemplified forgiveness and tolerance and contributed to the final closure of the case.

In turn, the victim’s family explained that the decision to grant forgiveness stemmed from a desire to maintain unity, strengthen social cohesion, and respond to the leadership’s directives and calls urging the overcoming of differences and prioritizing the public interest, within the framework of confronting challenges and resisting the forces of arrogance and attempts to target the social fabric.
