Al-Murtada Announces Completion of Prisoner Negotiations in Amman and Signing of Lists Including Over 1,600 Prisoners and Detainees

The head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, Abdul Qader al-Murtada, announced today the completion of the negotiations regarding the prisoners and detainees file in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the signing of the agreed-upon lists of names. This marks a new step in addressing this humanitarian issue.

Al-Murtada explained in a statement published on his “X” platform that the round concluded with the signing of lists containing 1,100 prisoners and detainees from the Sana’a side, in exchange for 580 prisoners and detainees from the other side, including seven Saudi prisoners and 20 Sudanese prisoners.

He indicated that this step came after a series of discussions and consultations held in the Jordanian capital, emphasizing that the implementation process will take place after the completion of the technical and logistical procedures related to the International Committee of the Red Cross.

This progress in the prisoner exchange is seen as a significant humanitarian step that will alleviate the suffering of hundreds of Yemeni families who have been waiting for years for the release of their loved ones, amidst the ongoing aggression and blockade and their widespread humanitarian consequences.

The prisoner exchange file holds a special priority for the revolutionary and political leadership, which has affirmed on numerous occasions its commitment to achieving comprehensive exchange deals that lead to the release of all prisoners and detainees, without delay or the exploitation of this humanitarian issue for political purposes.
