Iran after the attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut: Messages of deterrence and reaffirmation of the balance of power
Statements issued by senior Iranian officials following the Zionist aggression on the southern suburbs of Beirut reaffirmed the steadfastness of the Iranian position towards regional developments, and the rejection of any attempts to impose political or security equations by force, at a time when diplomatic moves and efforts aimed at ending the war and tensions in the region continue.
Recent Iranian positions reveal an integrated vision that combines adherence to the deterrence option, strengthening the home front, and emphasizing that any future security or political arrangements in the region cannot go beyond the new power realities imposed by the resistance forces.
The suburbs reveal Washington
In this context, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, considered that the Zionist aggression against the southern suburbs of Beirut revealed once again the limits of the American role and Washington’s inability to fulfill its obligations or impose them on its allies.
Qalibaf stressed that giving the enemy entity the green light to continue its attacks undermines any talk of building trust or making political processes succeed, noting that the “good cop, bad cop” policy is no longer able to deceive the peoples of the region or cover up the reality of the American partnership in supporting aggression.
These statements reflect a growing Iranian conviction that the continuation of Zionist aggression undermines any efforts at understanding, and confirms that the fundamental problem lies in the lack of real guarantees that would compel the Zionist entity to stop its aggressive policies.
No agreement without deterrence
From a more explicit perspective, Ibrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Shura Council, stressed that any potential agreement or understanding would not be useful unless it was preceded by deterring the enemy entity and stopping its attacks.
Rezaei stressed that the continuation of the aggression means that any agreement could collapse as soon as it is signed, warning against falling into miscalculations that ignore the nature of the Zionist project based on escalation and non-compliance with commitments.
These statements come at a sensitive time, coinciding with talk of anticipated understandings between Tehran and Washington to end the war, which observers see as a reflection of Iran’s insistence on linking any political path to real guarantees that prevent a recurrence of attacks.
The war strengthened Iran’s power.
In the strategic dimension, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stressed that the recent war did not achieve the goals of its planners, but rather contributed to strengthening Iran’s power and demonstrating its internal cohesion to the world.
Araghchi pointed out that one of the most important achievements of the period was the rejection of the narrative that sought to portray Iran as a weak and isolated country, stressing that popular cohesion and national unity formed the basic pillar of the country’s resilience and the failure of attempts to break its will.
He explained that what demonstrated Iran’s true strength was not only its military capabilities, but also the presence of the people in the field and their rallying around their national issues, which gave Iranian diplomacy an additional advantage in the face of external pressures.
Security through everyone’s participation
Regarding the future of the region, Araqchi stressed that recent experiences have proven the impossibility of building a stable security system by excluding Iran or ignoring its role, emphasizing that the new security structure for the region must be based on cooperation and partnership among all its countries.
Iranian officials believe that recent developments have prompted many countries to reconsider regional security equations and acknowledge that stability and development can only be achieved through understanding and respect for common interests.
Preparedness and response to breaches
On the security front, Iranian Border Guard Commander Brigadier General Ali Akbar Javidan affirmed that the borders of the Islamic Republic are witnessing the highest levels of security and operational readiness, with continued coordination between various military and security agencies to confront any potential threats.
In the same context, the Iranian Ministry of Security announced the implementation of qualitative operations that resulted in the dismantling of a Takfiri cell and the arrest of dozens of elements linked to armed riots, in addition to the arrest of a spy working for the Zionist enemy entity.
