From markets and roads to villages and cities… June 17 documents bloody chapters of aggression against Yemen
June 17th is one of the days that holds in the Yemeni memory painful scenes of the crimes of the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression, as the documented facts during the years of aggression reveal a recurring pattern of targeting civilians, civilian objects, infrastructure and service facilities in various governorates.
From the border villages in Saada to the residential neighborhoods in Hodeidah and Taiz, and from public roads and farms to communication networks and service facilities, the image of an aggression that has affected the Yemeni people and the foundations of their daily lives is evident, leaving thousands of victims and widespread destruction whose effects are still visible today.
2015 AD.. Targeting of public property, border villages and service infrastructure
On this day in 2015, the aggression aircraft intensified its raids on a number of governorates, targeting service and economic facilities and populated areas.
In Al Mahwit Governorate, two citizens were injured as a result of more than 12 missiles that targeted the Al-Mukhair Fort area overlooking the Al-Ahjar Valley in Shibam Kawkaban District, which led to the destruction of hangars and warehouses designated for road construction equipment. The damage also extended to the adjacent archaeological fort and a number of surrounding houses.
In Saada Governorate, the districts of Majz, Munabbih, Haydan, Al-Dhaher and Ghamr were subjected to a series of intense raids that targeted citizens’ homes, markets, mosques and shops, and led to the destruction of the home of citizen Faisal Muhammad Al-Naqah in Majz district, in addition to targeting a mosque and shops in Al-Shaal market in the border district of Munabbih.
The attacks extended to Al-Jawf Governorate, where the Al-Shajan Al-Shihat and Al-Aradhi areas in Al-Hazm and Al-Ghayl districts were subjected to successive raids that led to the destruction and damage of a number of citizens’ homes and properties.
The air force also targeted the city of Khor Maksar in Aden with four raids, and launched more than ten raids on various areas in Lahj Governorate, including targeting a passenger bus near Tur al-Bahah, in addition to bombing Naseem farms in Hajjah, road maintenance vehicles belonging to the Public Works Department in Al Mahwit, and several sites in Sana’a, Dhamar and Taiz.
2016 AD.. Sniping and artillery shelling target civilians
On June 17, 2016, the aggression and its mercenaries continued to directly target civilians.
In Taiz Governorate, a woman was killed by mercenary sniper fire in the Al-Jahmaliyah area, and residential neighborhoods and the vicinity of Al-Sharijah School were subjected to artillery shelling that caused extensive damage to homes and property.
In Al-Jawf, three citizens were injured as they were leaving a mosque in Al-Matun district, while citizens’ homes and farms in Al-Ghayl district were subjected to continuous artillery and missile shelling, coinciding with two raids by the aggression aircraft on Al-Matmah district.
Marib witnessed an airstrike targeting the airport area in Sarwah district, while the Al-Mujrim area below Maran in Haydan district in Saada was subjected to an airstrike that left widespread destruction in farms and citizens’ properties.
The enemy aircraft also dropped flares on populated areas in the Khawlan al-Tayyal district of Sana’a Governorate, coinciding with the mercenaries’ continued shelling of the Nehm area.
2017 AD.. Public roads and citizens’ markets in the crosshairs of raids
In 2017, attacks on roads and civilian facilities continued, with a vegetable truck driver being killed in an airstrike targeting the public road in the Mawza district of Taiz governorate.
Saada province witnessed a series of raids targeting the districts of Al-Dhaher, Haydan, Majz and Baqim, in addition to Saudi missile and artillery shelling on various areas in the border district of Shada.
In Taiz Governorate, the districts of Mocha, Salah and Al-Ta’iziyah were subjected to scattered raids, while the raids targeted Al-Maslub district in Al-Jawf, and the districts of Haradh and Midi in Hajjah Governorate with more than ten raids, as part of the broad military escalation that affected several Yemeni governorates.
2018 AD.. Hodeidah Airport and Kamaran Island under bombardment
The year 2018 stands out as one of the years that witnessed an intense escalation, especially on the west coast.
